Do you mean whats getting shoved down peoples throats on the legal market? Or whats poppin amongst home growers?

Nothing from the hype stuff is even worth mentioning. But Hazes and Chems are finally making a big comeback amongst growers. Seeing good Kush making a comeback too. Also seen people wanting Blue Dream again, but the one going around now as Santa Cruz BD isnt even close to the BD we had in Santa Cruz back in the day.

No, it’s a really green sativa and lanky but not the producer that SC BD was! I think out of the newer stuff that Superboof is pretty good

Candy gas still seems to be the current flavor from talking to a friend of mine who runs a dispensary. Lots of runtz, rainbow sherb, seing some OG and chem creep back in. Though Oreos and blockberry seems to be around a fair bit. Pure Michigan. GMO, Tropicana. Apple’s and bananas.
I tend to more classic flavors but that is what I have seen around.

@BackyardBoogie420 what are some differences between the BD you referring too vs the modern one? I have zero experience of either so if you dont mind breaking in down simple format would be awesome my friend

The one I remember was real haze heavy in effect. I have more than a few memories of early morning bong rips where your hearts beating out of your chest and your heads all sweaty lol. The one going around now is the one that got super popular up in Norcal cuz 1st year growers could pull 10 lb plants with it in a 200 gal. It was an absolute tank, but the smoke was really sub par. I swear I saw 1000s a lb a year of that stuff. Eventually you couldnt even give it away. I had many an upset grower when I told em that stuff wasnt worth theu nutes you used to grow it

I remember 2 distinct Blue Dreams going around.
A colorful very berry relaxing blue Dream, and a green hazey Blue Dream. I loved them both but miss the hazey one.
Blueberry Muffins is quite close to the indica Blue Dream.

It’s sad that most people that ā€œknowā€ Bluedream never had the real one praising a mid like it’s the best strain ever. It has bag appeal and yield but lacks the high.It is a nice tasty smoke but regardless is mid. The non hazey one is mid that took over the market that i hate due to it. I would stay away from it and pick up from someone with bubba kush/cat piss.I’ve had runtz/gelato crosses that shit on ā€œBluedreamā€.

BD is quite the staple and a favorite of growers and smokers alike.
I’d give it a 6 or 7 out of 10 for potency. But it’s the euphoria and balance of the high that makes it a favorite. Very far from being mids.
Smoke cookies and notice how 2-D the high is and quickly it fades. The BD is more complex and more functional and enjoyable. And yields a hell of a lot better.

When Burner started the Cookie brand, he had to release a ā€œFuck Blue Dreamā€ campaign just to get into the market because that’s how good BD was - it owned the market.
Purple weed was too weak.
Hazey lines yielded too low and took too long.
Hashplants put out a lot of hash but took work and again low yield.

Sure Chemdog is stronger and Basic5 will yield more. But Blue Dream just hits the spot.
Still, if I had to pick just one to smoke all the time, probably Malawi or Starfighter

What’s popular isn’t always good, and what’s good isn’t always popular ya know?

Good question. Lemme open the tent. Hmmm, looks like a couple Rare Dankness F-Cut x Leroy Tk and a cross of 2 Bodhi strains. That’s the Top strains (so far) of 2025. Then there is the veg tent. Bubba, Deep Chunk and a couple Sour D crosses in the batters box. No Cookies to be seen. In all seriousness, I don’t care. I know what I’m looking for, and it is not to be found in the flavor of the day.

Haze Valley and Radio Ridge Nursery are trustworthy people, afaik. Ran into em last year at free seed day, they were selling super healthy clones for a fair price. They also work with Bodhi. I’d trust them

Are yall saying the Santa Cruz cut is the modern 1 ?

Yessir! Its not what we knew as BD back in the day in Santa Cruz. Its the midsy cropper cut they grew tons of in norcal.

If i had to speculate, i think there are going to be a few main categories that will be most popular this year. I feel like the general vibe is still riding the classic resurgence that started hitting mainstream circles a few years ago.

Chems, sours have been mainstream for a little bit now. i suspect glues, cheese and kush will be the next classic resurgence. Already seeing more and more kush, on par with chem availability commercially.

New exotic flavors- im talking like cinnamon/baked goods, banana, cherry, raspberry. I feel like there will be a shift in the traditional candy exotic market. Wouldn’t be surprised if more blueberry heavy lines come back crossed with some hype strains.

Still waiting on a legit blue dream. Its sorta interesting i havent even seen anyone claim to have the flower real or not. Usually something that sought out will at least get some copycats.
