It was a horti sun dimmable ballast, plastic rubbish, now a new metallic dimmable 600w (660w with boost) up and running, all good brothers & sisters :pray:t3::man_mage:t3::dash:

I’ve got the dimmable omega 600w with 400 w and 250w settings so was making sure it wasn’t that or I’d be scared lol glad nothing went seriously wrong and your back up and running :green_heart:

Appreciate it :pray:t3::man_mage:t3:
It was because of water 100%
The new one is the lumii, same from 250-400-600-660. Old one u couldn’t even change the wire

Nothing wrong with magnetic ballast they were built to last back in the day unlike today’s garbage made out of garbage

Can’t argue with that :man_mage:t3::dash::fire:

And when they eventually break you can easily fix them. Most of the time they just need a new capacitor.

I kept running magnetic ballasts right until the end (when I switched to LED’s for flower). I did have some electronic ballasts too but mostly stuck with magnetic. I still have at least 4 of them laying around (2x 600w & 2x1000w + a couple/few hoods).

I’m happy with my PhotonTek LED’s for flower but I really miss vegging under metal halides and t5 fluorescents. They just cost a lot more on the electric bill.

Oh, and hey OP:

Make sure you mount your ballasts on the wall. Get them up off the floor so they don’t get wet! Most ballasts have screw holes for mounting to the wall. I used to hang some of mine from the ceiling outside the room (to cut down on the heat). Gotta keep those ballasts and cords off the floor and away from water.

I just put my ballasts on a 2x4 up off the ground an I got lil fans blowing on em they do get hott lol I just picked up 3 hoods an a cool tube I’m excited to get these hooked up n going no more fighting heat during summer months it’s been nice not turning on the heater house stays 70-75 degrees now rooms running 80-85 degrees not to bad

Gonna replace the HPS bulbs for some metal halides in next veg for sure, just running two is still doable with the electric bill :man_mage:t3: what’s your thoughts on the yield comparison between 600w vs 1000w btw

U run HPS in veg how does that work out

Yes led and HPS bulbs more suitable for veg, never had an issue, might stretch a bit more perhaps :man_mage:t3::dash::man_shrugging:t3:

When running hps in flower should I go from 250w to 400w or is that depending on my temps and humidity
