I am sure, we are not alone in this. and not only ones who are seeking for maximal psychoactive herb, which can give unusual experience, and that experience can enrich our lives, helps us with mind development, instead of just relaxing. relaxing is nice for sure, but there is plenty of relaxing herb out there, not so much of that highly psychoactive one.
and as far as concept of new forms of haze hybrids, it is quite simple and easy to understand, when you grow enough of original haze and smoke various phenotypes of it. you realize, that not all possibilities of hybridization were done… reason is that it is not easy to work with full tropical line and most seedmakers wants to make is easier and use already proved hybrids. like for example cross gdp with super silver haze, and call it haze, while it is maximally 25% haze. a little bit of marketing trick.
in fact very few hybrids. mostly it is skunkhaze from Mr. Skunkman and NLhaze from Mr. Nevil, where he used only two phenotypes of original haze. while OH has many… I like to work with metallic haze, as I love effect of it much more than effect of incense haze for example. metallic one is not so known. I grew various dutch hazes like amnesia, silver haze, good ole jack, nevilles haze, mango haze etc. all these look like some good variation of haze, but in fact it is all based only on two phenos of haze, A and C. so it is all very similar, plus it was crossed with northern lights, which is not the best parent for haze if you want to keep that special psychoactivity of tropical cultivar. it is my opinion of course, others can have different opinion, why not? it is okay as people are different. back in the days, folks didn’t have access to all genetic possibilities we have today… there is difference between cultivars coming from subtropical belt - in our case NL, and tropical cultivars, which is very hard to define, but sure it exists. I see that that wide leaf cultivars takes down some psychoactive properties of real haze. take down duration of effect and build ceiling of effect. I try to avoid northern lights, which is practically in most of todays hybrids like sour diesel or kush. and try to find suitable parent for haze, parent which keeps and doesn’t disturb all those special properties of real haze. in fact it can be easy if you select parent from other tropical cultivar, like zamal or pure thai. problem is that you will not achieve indoor adaptability, and it will be as same as difficult to grow it to full potential as pure haze. thats why we crossing it, to get flowering little down and to make it more adaptable to indoor environment or to northern outdoor grow. and make it simply more easier to grow. so it a little bit of alchemy to achieve and in the same time to keep real haziness in it.
and that is case with mindblower, mother was hawaiian cultivar, so it was bred in tropics. and it is probably blue pakistan hashplant x chocolate thai. it was bred, not by me, but by unknown guys at Hawaii - huge respect to them! it was bred to have more compact structure from paki and shorter flowering time, but to have effect more into thai side than to paki side. its effect is pretty strong and long lasting, yet not so cerebral or long lasting like haze. still I think it is very good parent for haze and can let haze shines in that right way. especially thanks to thai genetics heritage. still there will be some phenos which are less cerebral, @TopicalWave can confirm, but there are also those fabulous haze phenos, but still with much better yeild than pure haze. also hybrid vigor magic plays its role in first generation hybrid.
the truth is that if you want to experience real haze, no hybrid can replace it. but some hybrids can be pretty close. I like both, but hybrids are much easier to grow and yeild better and that’s what counts for me.
