Our goats are milkers. We make everything we can out of the milk. Goat cheese, done in a number of ways, yogurt, cajeta, butter, soapā¦ Any thatās left over goes to the family or the dogs to supplement their feed.
We have plans to buy a Kiko billy ( an amazing New Zealand meat breed). Weāre going to cross the Kiko and our milkers. Hopefully weāll end up with some great all around goats that will produce enough milk and still butcher out with some good weight.
Kiko are truly amazing. They put on an extreme amount of weight with little feed and are the Superman of goats when it comes to internal and external pests.
We used to have a great bloodline going but I sold everything when I got down. Weāre just now building back the herd. I have 5 milkers right now with two bred to drop kids sometime around the first of May.

I absolutely love my 4x8ās but they arenāt conducive to 2 in a room , so my other room is my 4x8, 4x4 and a 2x4 shelf w/Athena VPD cover. Since moving Iāve been down basically two 4x4ās and itās been killing me as I had my shit down to a science there, and trying to redo my entire routine has been a nightmare, then the thrips! Just too much! So now Iāve been resetting my moms, keeping all the clean stuff quarantined and was renovating to try and squeeeze in another 4x8 , no bueno. After everything I had a 4 x 6 spot to use, or I just take the whole spare room (which my wife did not want whatsoever) yesterday my son and I made a few changes so we could pop in the 5x5 ā¦. And I created an isolation area in a walk in closet upstairsā¦.
Now as soon as the BOO comes down Iām back to firing in all cylinders. And I could not be happier!

When someone asks āWhat does goat taste like?ā I tell them to picture venison with a slight sweetness to it and no gaminess. It really is good lean meat. I think my personal favorite is back strap stir fry.

I definitely need to try it again. Roti is like my favourite food in the world so I figured Iād love it, it was also from some lil shack in Toronto so it could have just been crap goatā¦. Now you have wanting to try more stuff with goat but tbh around here itās only in Trini/Jamaican food which there is very little of in Niagara And for GOOD West Indian, thereās one but they donāt serve goat, but they do have ox tail/tongue

I really do like goat steak but ive tried to make goat jerky before and the goat burger definitely leaves a weird grease on the top of your mouth and itās not pleasant. Even patting the jerky down every couple hours didnāt help in the dehydrator

I love to see the look on someones face when I tell them we even eat the tongue! 
We donāt waste anything that we can possibly use.
Tongue really is good meat but it freaks the hell out of some folks.

@MoBilly the best thing Iāve ever tried that at first it was like wtf Iād never eat that was in culinary school with sheep brains. Seriously so delicious it melted in your mouth with a nutty background but very tender meat with lots of flavor. Bonus is all the good vitamins and stuff in the brain
