I sprouted beans indoor a few weeks ago and selected 5 females to go in the ground. I kept 1 male to make beans. I sowed another round indoor to see if I get a couple more females to pick through. I’ll have beans to share after the end of the season.

I put the following varieties in the ground…

Hell’s Kitchen = NYCD x Lemon Bruleé from Covert

Black Domina x True OG from @allpronobro

Power Cheese = UK Cheese x (UK Cheese x Power Plant) from Luna

Blue Peaches = (Blueberry Squealer #5 x Blueberry Squealer (F2)) from Okcalyxx

I saved the following male…

Destination Wedding = (Indiana Bubblegum x Wedding Cake) x Afghan Punch from Heart and Soil

I put more of the DW to try for a female. I also sowed some [(Indiana Bubblegum x Wedding Cake) x Afghan Hindu Kush] from Heart & Soil and a few [(SKxLK)x(Z3x(WCxBM))] made in my 2021 garden.

Exciting! I know.

Thanks. I extended it over another 4.5ft to make room. The plants were a little crowded before. Damn wood’s expensive!

Plants in the raised bed look like they are taking the transition okay. They got full sunlight all day yesterday and today…still lookin happy.

They were about 3 weeks after germination when they went in the ground.

The male is looking good. It has very nice structure with tight nodes and lateral branching. Stem rubs smell like spicy grapefruit bubblegum.

I got 100% germ on the beans popping up. I’ll get these sex tested and grow out the females a few nodes to see what I save and what I gift away. Hopefully, I don’t end up with 70% males like the last test batch!
