Cheers man, I found the 100W driver on digikey. Just thinking about my clone / seedling cab, now my veg tent is extended, I can keep my mothers in there which doubles my space. Do you think 4x2 ft strips would be enough light in a 30x40 inch cabinet for clones and seedlings?
That’s a pretty big cabinet holy shit lol
I mean sure, rooting clones and starting seeds you basically dont need any light I used to use a single 23w CFL to root 100 clones at once.
But the window in which clones/seedlings go from not needing much light to really wanting a better light (moved to veg tent) is so small in my experience that you’re going to want to have their spots in the veg tent on standby if only running a few strips in the clone cabinet.
I’ve made the mistake in the past of not getting my clones and seedlings into good light fast enough and ended up losing time on them, downside to having a separate propagation area I suppose.
My worry was about having them stretching too much, before I could get them in the Veg tent, I can grow them in there in 1 liter pots, up too 30 inches taking pot height and lights into consideration, the cab is 40 inches high as well. So probably better to do another 7 strips on a 100w driver over a 2x2ft area, and run a dimmer so I can increase the light as they get bigger. The newer seedlings and clones can use the desk lamps and sils I have in there already.
Just taken my Blurple light apart to see what drivers it has. Iw was advertised as using 240W out the wall but only has 2x 50w drivers and a 12w driver for the fans. Really I could just put that in there and have the same effect. and put the new light in its place and save a bit of cash.
This will definitely keep clones/seedlings going for a while, and would even do in a pinch for veg.
The blurple light would also be fine especially in a 2x2 but probably half (or less) as bright as a similar wattage BLux unit. And then you’re back to worrying about not getting them into the veg tent in time.
Had an opportunity to buy a “1000w” blurple light last night for $15 through a mistake/technicality on Amazon and passed. Couldn’t justify running it in anything seeing as it’s so inefficient it would feel like taking a step back technology-wise.
Day 58
Defoliated the two GTxSBR, probably should have done it sooner but didnt wanna stir up too much pollen. Theres alot hiding under the hood. Pretty exciting.
Lots dense fat nugs
And probably going to find alot of seeds in them, as this was just laying on a branch lol:
Purple Dark Spark looking pretty much done as well
Going to be looking at chopping another plant tomorrow.
Everyone of those plants look stellar man, very nice job
Nice Trev, looking marvellous, especially the darker one, I still have a little bit left of mine, will definitely be growing more soon.
@Shadey go for a xlg-150 driver if using it for a 2x2 and build out the strips accordingly as IMO a xlg-100 would be under powered, i run mine in 3sqft and also have mine over driven to about 125w a piece
But your talking clones and seedlings, still though id get the higher wattage as you can always add more strips later and you dont have to run it at max, better to have too much and run underpowered than finding out later you need more
Cheers for the info Mr Sparkle, there isn’t much difference in price between the two drivers, so I will get the 150 drivers, as you say it’s better to future proof equipment.
yeah only reason i went with the xlg-100 over the 150 is it would of been overkill for my space.
Figure if wanting to use them for flowering and get good flowering 35w/sqft min to more like 40w a sqft with these is what you should aim for. and for say doing a 2x2 a the xlg-150 fits in that range, plus you can overdrive it later if you want/desire to
Looking sweet Trevor! Great job and way to roll with the punches!
Day 60
GTxSBR #1 is done, lots of amber trichomes almost too much in some places, just wishing #2 was as mature as I really wanna chop all these at the same time.
GTxSBR #2 not as mature as GTxSBR #1 but really thick
Dark Spark purple is also a little overcooked and wants to be chopped
Day 6
Day 6 on the new seedlings, and day idk 20 something on the other runty stunted fuckers. Started feeding the runts a heavy dose of maxibloom and they seemed to love it so I mixed up a half strength dose for the new seedlings first feeding. Fingers crossed things start gaining momentum.
I hear those GTxSBR are pretty stoney, maybe taking the one early will still be some decent smoke. It seems the other two are already ready already.
They are very stoney! That’s a good thing for me though. Idk I might just chop the two and see where I end up.
Itchy trimmer fingers here now lol.
They look great @TrevorLahey good growing for the next batch
fat ladies there, Trevor they do look excellent…great Job !!!
Happy New Year !!!
I’m curious why maxibloom instead of a veg fert?
Thanks everyone!
@beacher if you’re familiar with the Lucas Formula, maxibloom is that, in a bag. Should be enough “veg stuff” in it especially for autos. Lots of people around the internet have figured this out and have been growing with only maxibloom and calmag for years so I figured I’d give it a go. @Mr.Sparkle also is giving it a try in his thread too. Gotta get away from MegaCrop while still keeping it cheap.
Just saw your whirly bird plant - Ive got one too! @ReikoX says these are whorled phylotaxy, but I cant spell that correctly and its a tongue twister, so whirly bird or tripple header is as close as I can get.
I didnt see how that one turned out? Mine seems to be doing well. Its one of three Earth Lover CBD autos from @Sebring that Im trying this time. Ive read that the three leaf thing can go away if you top or FIM, so Im going to just let it go and see what happens. I think it kind of interesting and Im really taken with it. It will be interesting to see how it does compared to its two sisters.
