Urban Cartographies

Cartography of Cannabis

Through the streets of our cities, across countries and continents, a quiet language unfolds—a secret cartography etched into the urban landscape. Stickers, symbols, and signs of cannabis appear suddenly, as if conjured by unseen hands. They emerge on walls, lamp posts, and hidden corners, hinting at a global network that exists both in plain sight and in the shadows.

For years, I’ve captured these slap, taking pictures wherever I found them, only to lose many to the tides of time. Each image felt like a piece of a larger map, a fragmented atlas connecting people, places, and stories. Now, I feel compelled to create a space to collect and share them—a place where these ephemeral pieces can live on, and where others might contribute their discoveries.

Here are a couple of relics rubbish images I managed to save from a recent drive cleanup—a small beginning for what could become a communal archive of cannabis culture’s subtle traces.

An interesting idea, it has a strong William Gibson vibe to it as well… Very cool.

I had a friend who was a cartographer. He worked in Arizona, but he got fired. He lost his sense of Yuma.

I’ll just show myself out. You know, on the way to the bong… :joy:

Nice writing.

as to the following, he’ll never find his bong.
either he’s too high to find it (which implies he used it to get high, or he never has found it, and is doing a lotta gummies)

Oddly, this sets up an obvious joke taken from subject line of this thread, “Urban Cartographies”, something about some kinda map, chart, wotev for mota to find his way “on the way to (his) (lost) bong”.
