Using inorganic nutrients in organic substrate?

Hey guys,

I don’t know if this is the right subforum, but I didn’t find anything else it would fit.

I just finished my first tiny plant in BioBizz AllMix substrate, with BioBizz nutrients. I now want to re-use this substrate for a second, better run, as I learned how to water correctly now.

The thing is - I don’t wanna spend tons of money for all the Biobizz nutrients again. I wanna go the FloraNova route now, which isn’t organic. Easy 2 part nutrients, done. Here are a few questions I have:

  • Is it even possible to do? I know it won’t be organic anymore, but I don’t really care. I just wanna know if I can use this substrate no problem with normal nutrients, non-organic

  • How does it work with Ph then? BioBizz Allmix is peat-based (Almost like HP Pro Mix, but with added organic stuff like worm castings). BioBizz AllMix wants 6.3PH, but I imagine this is for the Biobizz nutrients, or?

  • Do I just use the General Hydroponics PH down if I use non-organic nutrients? How is it with PH fluctuations then?

I’m sorry for these silly questions, but I’m a bit confused as to what to do in this case.

If the mix is similar to ProMix pH your nutrients to 6.0. You can use the synthetic nutrients with the BioBizz after a few weeks.

What is All·Mix?

All·Mix literally does it all for you – creating the optimum environment for plants to flourish throughout the year.

This heavily pre-fertilized substrate mixture emulates a rich outdoor soil with a full micro active ecosystem. It’s been designed to have enough nutrient-fuelled power to sustain lush growth for a couple of weeks, without any need to add any extra fertilizer.

yep!

You can mix organic methods with inorganic not a problem.
Maybe keep your feed low when you start in case you have food left in the medium.

Just use regular PH up and down.
Between 6-7 is fine.

That question will be hard to answer accurately.
Should be pretty stable but you will have to see how things in the medium react as they break down.

What to do??
Just go for it bro, you got this.

It would not hurt to test the PH and PPM of the runoff/runout before you feed, this way you have a known point to start from.

Might not be a bad idea to mix some more peat and perlite with the used stuff.
Not a lot and this is not needed but may be a good idea and may help things stay stable.

Good luck
