Vernal's Basement Part 2: Electric Boogaloo

Golden Goat will go well with everything I imagine.

I was considering using the MNC for a male line and it would make a lot of sense to do so.

The line is wonderful churchy dank and unusually fast, but it has its weakness in structure. Floppy to a fault. I am leaning to the Golden Goat x Scott’s as a male line because it doesn’t seem to have much in the way of noticeable faults, and puts me in a position to make a Golden Goat backcross and work that line for a while.

Oh shit, I just checked I’m not one of them. I hope I’m a neighbor of one of them. :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Which Archive are you referring to? I have a Valley Vixen that @MG_Canna gifted me and some other Archive stuff. I muffed the first run with VV and stunted it with others outside sort of late, but got seeds from haze male.

I really want to check it again with the Casper OG stuff he sent.

Yours looks as good as any IG shot. Hope it smokes well. I’m so ripped that I gotta go back and check on what I’m replying to. Ever had that happen?

Same guy, Archive Seeds.

He made a cross like 7 years ago called “Mr. Dank’s Golden Ticket” which was Golden Goat x Faceoff OG bx2. Scott’s OG is Triangle Kush x (Triangle Kush x Ghost OG bx2) so they’re very similar male lines to the same mother. I got the Scott’s OG male from @GrowHard when the Blue Magoo bx2 male I picked turned out to be sterile. Made 'em in a little baby tent because I was in an apartment at the time and couldn’t “grow” grow.

Archive makes good shit but he wants an arm and a leg for it.

You can just ask “ever been so ripped…?” and my answer is most likely “probably” haha.

There’s gotta be a hundred packs of those floating around here and IG, I sent out a ton and I also sent a bunch to Shoe to give away as freebies with orders from Headie Gardens. Down to my last 60-70 beans of the F1 but the F2 is coming by winter. Germing a couple dozen more when space clears in a couple weeks to look for a hazy male and run another 3-4 females to sift through.

I have limited breeding experience, and it could just be the plants I’ve used, but ime the males seem to impart more structure based traits than the females do

I think it depends on the line. Some stuff is dominant, recessive, co-dominant. Too many variables to know for sure. I think it’s generally the best practice to pick a male from either an inbred line or a line that consistently spits excellent females with no real glaring weakness.

There’s a million great individual plants out there but I like lines that are consistent, not necessarily phenotypically consistent but just solid overall plants one after the other. They’re not easy to find. If I grow 2 females and both are keeper quality it bodes well. Depends a lot on the line but for example the Super Silver Cough was 2/8. Bandaid Haze was 2/6.

The kushy plant. Deep rich earthy kush, solvent/mothballs, lemon backend. Keeper quality but not looking for kush dominant plants for the F2. Can’t keep 'em all but it’s super dank. F2 coming, decided on this for the male line.

Sold ouutttttt @oleskool830 if you got any left get crackin’.

They’re very fertile plants, I imagine I’ll have thousands available here in 6 or so months.

Golden Goat backcross, too, since I got the clone back recently, rooting up nicely now.

Might even do a Golden Goat S1 at some point.

Henceforth, I’m going to start calling the Golden Goat x Scott’s OG “Garland”…the old name “Mr. Phresh’s Silver Token” is just too many syllables; shit’s unwieldy.

I do and I’m cracking them along with your Electric Cowboy in September. I grew the Golden Goat/Scott’s OG last year. Big yield Dank huge buds! I’m still using the special recipe bloom booster you turned me on to. It has kicked my grow to another level! Cant thank you enough bro. Stay well.

Blessings…

Mango Nigerian Cough F2 at 60…harvest in a few days. The floppiest vine out there but it’s got the churchy incensey catpiss…bit less soapy/floral than Bandaid Haze, but is 2-3 weeks faster…the speed is nuts for something of this pedigree. Plant started fading two weeks ago and I don’t flush, looks raggedy as hell, fan leaves I didn’t pluck fell off weeks ago. It’s not a finicky plant, it just looks like that. Didn’t purple as much this round but it was warmer in the basement than it was this spring.

Headstash shit, growing it next round, too. Doesn’t need a ton of veg time, the stretch is breathtaking and it wants to spread out not up. 1 of these could occupy it’s own light in a 15 gallon pot.

Been a minute since I’d smoked church weed nice job on growing that out.

NOM NOM. You’ve been on a haze tear. That one looks awesome too. I’ve got your SSC primed to take off in the next week or two. Popped a bit of that Durban pollen on some buds for the hell of it. I’m not sure it’s super viable, but I do see some seeds coming in on the CQ, so I think it’ll turn out a few.

damn dude, yours are always some of the best looking plants on here - beautiful!

Original plan was another churchy haze line, so I went all in on those for a few cycles, but best laid plans and all that. Start somewhere end up elsewhere. I’m putting my chips in for the Golden Goat stuff. Hardly anyone else is growing it, even fewer breeding with it. I’ll still pollinate the haze ladies, MNC, SSC, and Bandaid Haze. Not sure how the funky lemon is going to match up with the musty churchy haze but we’ll find out!

I think about the only breeder I’m aware of that uses it is rasta Jeff. It seems like there’s some unexplored territory there for sure.

Some of the Golden Goat x Scott’s OG “Garland” at 48. This is the Golden Goat dominant plant.

Continues to impress. I threw down another 21 beans and 19 came up 72 hrs later, not bad for 4 year old seeds. Not sure if it even gets much better than this, I have 2 more females about to hit flower any day and I’ll select another 4 females and 1-2 males of the 19 seeds. I’ll cull the broader leaved plants and go from there.

Ordered some STS supplies, figure I’ll start reversing the golden goat clone in the mini pollination tent after these gals are done. Plan is, take 5mL of the 0.1M silver nitrate, 20mL of the 0.1M sodium thiosulfate solution, mix well, then mix that into 175mL of water which is a 1:7 dilution. I’ll start spraying the “male to be” plant with this mix 15 days before it goes into flower, then once every 5 days thereafter, until the plant really starts looking like crap or male flowers or both happen. I’ll just place a large female clone right next to it across from the fan.

I’ve never reversed a plant before, fems aren’t really my thing…but to self a clone you love to further explore the line…well…that’s pretty cool in my book.

Anyone with STS experience please chime in if you see anything glaringly wrong with the methodology.

Why cull the broad leaves plants? Just curious. I’m about to pop those golden goat/Scott’s OG. Peace

More likely to be the OG kush expressions, Golden Goat has pretty narrow leaves. I’m growing a kush leaning plant now and it’s super dank earthy lemon pine. There’s a few pictures above. But, I’m looking for more Golden Goat dominant plants.
