Video (audio from video file) "enhancing" editing, help?

If I have a video file, and in the video the audio is poor, what can I do (software?) to improve or fix that? It’s poor, I think, due to the recording device (cheap headphones with built in microphone in the cable, is what it looks like).

Also, how can I add subtitles in an easy way. I know there are sites that do this automatically (as best as they can?) but with poor audio quality I wonder if those methods would struggle. Also, I’d rather use some software local to my machine. But whatever.

Thanks.

I use Final Cut Pro. It does have auto cleanup features that make it easier for some people. It also does transcribe to caption now.

Sounds neat. I just remembered I have “Handbrake” software. I only used it once or twice to…make a video file smaller (compress, I guess). Duno how to use the thing, haha.

I wish something like this would just work: Enhance Speech from Adobe | Free AI filter for cleaning up spoken audio. Gotta sign up and pay or something.

Maybe there’s a tutorial for handbrake for cleaning up some audio. I don’t know what I’d be doing though, haha. I’ll keep looking.
