Washing Fabric Pots

How do yall wash your fabric pots? I think I have quite a bit of salt and other “stuff” buildup and am worried they’ll be jammed up if I don’t clean them.

I just use my shower to be honest lol, but if you have one definitely yes, but if it’s the 2nd or 3rd time you use them you might rip them apart depending how you treated them to that point.
Sorry forgot to add, hot water works wonders.

I put some Simple Green in a 55 barrel, throw the dirty bags in, fill with water (each bag gets sprayed out over the barrel) Then I use a broom handle to stir it up like a big witches brew. Then let it sit (usually over winter). Then pull them out and hose them off. Repeat for stubborn ones. Real stubborn ones just toss in the trash, it’s easy to buy the cheap ones cheap

I put them in my laundry room sink one at a time, rinse them under hot water, and scrape the outside with a butter knife and dish scouring pad.

Good idea i got the same problem as the poster. I was considering running them through the washing machine on gentle but sink sounds better

I give mine a soak in strong bleach-water, like probably 5-to-1 or so. Honestly that pre soak breaks down more salts than a hearty [pressure-washing, which I do after pre-soak in bleach water & rinse with hose water.

Just throw them in the washing machine. That’s what it’s there for.

I just wait until @Foreigner goes on vacation and wash mine in his bath tub.

You’ll just be trading mineral salts for soap scum.

Yeah, I take mine to the shop washing machine at work, lol.
Little dawn and degreaser.
Easy peasy.

Usually give a second wash with just hot water too.

I use vinegar for my humidifier wicks and it works well at removing the hard water deposits. Soak it in there for a bit and it comes of pretty easy. I think it would work well for fabric pots.

I usually soak mine in a bin with some water and agitate it and use a wooden stake to stir it a bit and then I just spray them off with my hose and reuse

It’s good practice to clean them, doing something more intense would probably be good if you have or suspect there’s a pathogen present.

After I spray with the hose I’ll let them sit in the sun on my driveway for a couple hours which dries them out pretty well, they’re usually dusty so I’ll smack them again and shake the dust out, and then they’re good to go for refilling.

I don’t dispose of my soil, either.

I’ll reuse soil that was indoor for my outdoor plants, and then after it’s gone through both, I’ll compost it and mix it in a big pile in my yard, or put it in my compost bin if there’s room and cycle it through that way. My compost bin gets quite hot and sustains high temps for long enough that I can confidently reuse it after hot composting, even if it had some pathogens present.
