Washing machines (bubble hash)

I’ve got the 5gallon cheap portable washing machine and am looking to upgrade to the larger size (20galllon). The Bubble Magic brand machine is readily available but i was looking for a cheaper alternative. There are plenty of similar machines available from amazon and was wondering if anyone has went that route with success? The machines all say they have a drain pump which to me seems undesirable and would need to be bypassed, thats one of the reasons I haven’t bought one because I don’t know if that’s a modification that’s do-able on those models? Does anyone have the 20 gallon bubble magic and if so does it also require a modification to bypass the pump? I know they all basically need the drain hose changed out usually. Any info is greatly appreciated

I have the 20 gallon bubble magic. I have bypassed the pump, extended the overflow and replaced all the corrugated house for smooth. If the overflow isn’t extended your hash water will splash out and you will loose some bubble. The corrugated hose acts like a gold pan and steals your bubble by sitting in the bumps in the hose.
I’m not sure how much would settle in the pump but I bypassed that because figured it would gum up after a while anyways

We bought and used a actual wash machine at one point in my life , had 5 sets of bags to drain it into , worked great
I’ve moved past water hash and find dry sieved light pressed hash to be so much more enjoyable.

Yeah thats the modifications I’m wondering about, it’s hard to tell if the other brand machines are able to be modified like the bubble magic ones. Unless someone else has already done one, the only way i’m gonna find out is to buy one and see i guess.
What do you think about the bubble magic machine? You happy with it? I’ve got no problem making the modifications thats easy enough

@_DB_0 what @Heritagefarms suggests would be one suggestion, @THCeed blew my mind by using a 300 :canada: :dollar: cement mixer from home depot!

Yes it’s best to get creative for large amounts , I’ve seen a 300 gallon food grade tote used also , the kind with the aluminum box frame and drain at the bottom.
This was being mixed by hand with a wooden kayak paddle but they were fabricating a motor onto a stand that would replace that labor intensive paddle last time I was there , never went back to see the upgrade but heard it worked great.
The challenge is coming up with that quantity of ice all at once , I used to make multiple trips to the store a day buying multiple 20 pound bags , I can’t help but wonder what they thought :joy:

For me this is easy in winter. Ice trays from Dollartree (3x $1.25), tap water and my backyard overnight when it’s below zero.

Free ice.

Only issue is climate change where the only days it’s been cold enough I wasn’t able to allocate the time to make bubble the following day so I never made the ice.

A chest freezer is great as well for many things. Making ice, storing flower, making fresh frozen, freeze-drying your hash, etc.

I picked up this one from another OG member for $135 shipped with a full set of bubble bags. Never got around to changing the corrugated hose so it’s been sitting in the box ever since. I really got to get to the hardware store and give it a go.

Your probably best just buying a “portable washing machine” thats not related to cannabis. Its the same product but your paying probably triple for that cannabis association. A stoners tax that gets put on things once theyre used for cannabis purposes; like dehydrators, moka pots, wooden boxes, nutrients, ad infinitum,

It’s not that much of a price difference surprisingly. The other “portable” ones i was looking at were around 50-70ish dollars cheaper. There are definitely cheaper options but i was looking at some decent ones (i think) But the unknown factor about the modifications makes it questionable. It’s probably do-able one way or another and I’m fairly skilled with shit like that but theres a ton of information on how to modify the bubble magic one so i just said fuck it and ordered that one. I found a great deal on the 20gallon bags so that will offset any savings on the machine and make it a wash (pun intended lol). Gonna be super nice cutting the work time by more than half with the bigger machine. Time is money.

Nice. I looked online for a new hose and everything was stupid expensive for some odd reason. I am sure the hardware store will have something. I had actually forgotten all about the thing until I saw people posting about the machines, lol. Had to remember where I put it. :joy:

Stonertax sounds like something we should pay anyway!

I have the same kit… still unused after 4 or more… lol

Recently I sent my son to the depot for that hose, came back with a $35 investment that was too thick… 3/8" or more. Overkill and couldn’t see it working out. I’v been meaning to look up a better replacement, if you find it before I do… please reach out and i’ll do the same.

Have you had that back panel off? Looks to me the hose has to be cut, and another slid over where it connects.
