Weed from NY 2011 Upper Manhattan

Hey guys!

This is a longshot, but in 2011 the metal band i was in at the time played in New York at a place called the Santos Party House. We stayed in an apartment on Sickles St, i remember there was a park near by, Fort Tryon park, i believe the area was called Inwood.

In the provision list for the band was cannabis, and we got some little 1.5 inch tall clear plastic cylindrical containers of like an 1/8th each, and they were some of the best weed i had around that time, and looked super professional coming in these little containers from where ever the dude got them. I was used to just getting a sandwich bag or cig cellophane up till then!

I wish i knew what it was!

Did New York have medical dispensaries at this time, or was this just for looks for us? It was super sweet and gassy tasting. I rolled a blunt and me and the the other guitarist of the band wondered off in the evening, high as hell and wound up at this bar down the street drinking Sapporo weird shapped beer cans with a bunch of Mexican cowboy guys that spoke no english, but were excited to meet us :metal:

I was advised that was a stupid decision for us to have done because people get mugged and shot and stuff… we didnt, i had a great time!

Anyway, my question honestly would be, what was this that we had, that may have came from a dispensary or something in its fancy little clear cylinders!?

It was probably from cali, weed for me was either imported, homegrown or from cali.

It was amazingly fresh aswell. Looked like it wasnt kept in bags or anything, atleast to my eyes. Like the orange pistils were still sticking out all over the buds. Im not sure if it would have been cali weed, if anything maybe someone homegrowning that kept good care of their stuff?

Nope that was just some dealers branding or container preference. Those style containers were popular for a bit. Med dispensaries in NY didnt open till 2016 i think and couldnt sell flower for a few years.

What was the high like? Since youre in the city, pretty hard to say where its from or what it was unless you have a veerry precise memory. NYC has always been a big cannabis hub for the north east.

It could have been homegrown but i’m guessing cali due to the packaging.

It was super tunnel vision high, like i was wearing swimming goggles as i was walking down the street giggling with the other guitar player. I remember still feeling like i was going down the elevator after i got off it as i was walking toward the building exit lol

Im not from NY, and this was my first experience with far east coast stuff i guess.

Im from Southeast Ohio, so all the stuff i was getting at the time came from Meigs Co, Athens, or columbus. Also the mexican brick weed was very prevalent in my area 20 an 8th at the time.

That sounds like the packaging from from the NY delivery services.
They had all the great strains and were fire. A bike messenger used to stop by
With a very nice selection.
I have some old cards from them. I’ll see if i can dig them up and post them.

Also if you’re street smart the city is very safe, just dont be an idiot.
Even then then city folks can always spot someone who’s not from the city.

This is what the containers looked like. I remember they ever had clear heat shrink around them!

I remember those cylindrical plastic containers the ones we had they had white pop tops.Every level street dealer in Buffalo was selling 1/8s in those they died out and went back to Mylar baggies or the old reliable dime bags all the oldschool dealers flipped weed in for years.

The singer of the band found a picture of the containers on his old phone, and they were black screw on lids on clear containers. The containers were labeled with circular stickers, with hand written strains. One said Blackberry Kush written in darker color marker, the other just said Sour Diesel written in green marker.

That Blackberry Kush!! Holy crap that is what i was talking about that was killer!!
