Weird leaf burn, should i worry?

Hi to all,

I am hoping you can help me identify an issue. I have a seedling of God Bud which will be my mother plant if she doesn’t die first and have some leaf burn that I am not familiar with. This is its history. It was in a rock wool cube during germination and sprout and initially i hurt it with a little nutrient burn after it had sprouted a couple of sets of leaves which affected the first real leaves that formed (hidden in the photos under the other leaves). I am always a little too keen to get them to grow when they are small. My bad. Since then, i have potted it. Now after a couple of weeks i found the ribs in the middle sets of leaves were pale compared to the other leaves. Now they have started to burn as shown in the pics below. The lowest leaves and top leaves are not affected in this way. Does anyone have any advice on if this is a deficiency or maybe just an after affect of the nutrient burn and stress of re potting? I am under knowledged on growing in dirt.
Thanks for any advice…

Have a look on here mate

Looks like it’ll grow out of it, leave it what it’s on ( feed-wise) and give it more time to get bigger.
What are you in soil .? If so you’re good for a few weeks from sprouting just a dose of LITFA and you should be fine.
Hope this helps my friend.

Ps. Yeah it could be a ph issue if it’s a month old now, don’t you have more seeds to germ.? Let me know your seeds situ and if you’re short i can/will send you some… shoot me a pm and I’ll help you with this( if that’s why you’re waiting so long …

@Gaz29 - Thanks for the vote of confidence, It was 2 weeks after germination/sprout when i re potted and another 2 weeks since. It is a slow grower, maybe related to the leaf issue.

@Ghandisflipflop - That looks like an amazing tool. I will give it a rip now.

EDIT: I just checked the tool and the tool itself didn’t really help in this instance (but definitely adding that to my favorites) but a picture directly on the front page did. I had already looked at some leaf charts but the images didnt really match. I reckon it could be a magnesium deficiency. I also believe that it occurred before it was in the pot and just the result of previous damage showing through. The leaves yellowed between the veins pretty much as it was being potted. After 2 weeks in the pot those yellow areas have died off. The new leaves look ok for now. I will do as Gaz29 has suggested and just watch it for now. I am not familiar with LIFTA but I will read up on that now.

Any more advice from existing/new parties always welcome.

Thanks to all.

I would say that looks more like real early on pH issues to me. As in it’s growing out of it imo. Carry on as you were. The more you try changing to fix stuff the more you will fuck it up. (From experience…mine and many others) give it 2 weeks or so with nothing more than a glance and a water/mild feed when yourbpots drying and I think you will be grand mate

@Gaz29 - Yes that makes sense and the damage was done back before it went into soil.

@anon58740919 - Thanks for suggesting this. It lines up with the general consensus so far that I should not mess with the little girl and just give her some time.

I kept the pH between 5.6 and 5.8 when it was just in the rock wool cube prior to the pot which is a bit low for Mg. So everything seems to be lining up with the pH theory.

As always, thanks to all, what a great place this is. Everyone is so willing to help and full of good advice. I am too used to corrosive trolling environments when on the internet. This place is the complete opposite. Just how i remembered it from back in the day. I hope to get my experience back up so I can give back to the community soon.

Looks like nute burn, but the new leaves look okay. I wouldn’t worry unless the new ones start doing it too.

@Meesh - Thanks for the input. Further confirming I should leave it alone.

@anon58740919 - I hear ya. I like to minimise stress. Now I just gotta hold myself back with the Nutes when they are young.

This is Very easy mate. Leave it the f*ck alone :joy::joy::joy:

But overall she should be much more bigger. When I grow from seed my plants are this big after 10 days. This one was shocked somehow and she still is. Because she doesnt grow. I would suggest to start over if you have any spare seeds. Plants always remember stress from its childhod  I Hope she will be Fine  keep growing! :muscle:

@Fisch - Hahahaha, nice one. It took someone to spell it out for me :stuck_out_tongue:
Yeah unfortunately seeds are a little scarce where I am located. Especially good strains. This plant had it hard from the start. The seeds were about 7 years old. I germinated one and it came out the soil with the shell still tightly wrapped around it. I had to try and cut it off it while it was so fragile. Once i got the shell off it the tips of the first two oval shaped leaves were dried/burnt together. I had to then use a blade to cut them apart. I will just try to grow it out and cut a clone for the mother plant. Hopefully the clone will be a fresh start. This time I will back off the Nutes. It doesnt help we have hard water here, I might have to bite the bullet and spend the money on a RO filter.

PS: I do not need this plant to grow fast so I have patience. I have another one that I germinated at the same time and although it was also 7 years old it is doing a little better. It is currently in its new home in a DWC tub in my veg tent. That is LA Confidential.

How HIGH is your water ppm/EC? That might be the culprit…

It makes me cringe to say. It is close to EC of 0.6 :scream:

Wow. That is really a lot. I got 0.220 and its considered as Very high in my country  you should really Think about Getting reverse osmosis. Its really cheap these days. I got mine for 50 bucks

Wow! you are lucky. I will have to keep looking but locally here they are around $300 US

Just look for the smallest one. Mine is Just 75galon per day. I got it in aquarium store. I did not by those big ones like 300galons a day. You dost need that much

Alright. Just ordered myself a nice high quality RO filter. Whether it was the cause or not I don’t really care. I have been procrastinating about how I really need one since i set myself up. Just the cost pushed me away as I have spent a bunch on my setup already in the last couple of months. In about 10 days I should be all setup and the Nutes replaced in my LA Confidential veg tent and the God Bud seedling will get a good flush of the purified goodness too.
The veg tent was not growing the fastest either but is looking nice and healthy. I think I have identified the cause of that being the aeration in the bubbler was too aggressive. I was trialing a new idea to help support the roots but in the end it was channeling the air right up under the plant and forcing it past the roots quite intensely. Time will tell.

I’d get an RO filter if i had EC 0.6 too, remember to use calmag though. Canna calmag agent is my usual tonic

@Albannach - Thanks for the advice, i will definitely check that out. I have often seen the Calmag mentioned in this forum. Is that more important if you are filtering your water or is it just important in general?
Thanks.
