Welcome to Meesh's Garden

Thanks @GMan! I needed to hear that today. I came across last years pic of the wisteria. It was like 1/4 that size at the end of the season. There are a lot of bulbs under that soil out there! It’s gonna fill in quite a bit once the dahlias come up. I need to remind myself that it’s only a 2nd year garden as well. Takes a lot of time and patience.

On another note… I got some companions planted in the cannabis patch today. I lined the south side of the bed with sunflowers. 5 footers then some nasturtiums on the west side. I have 500 marigold seeds called “Guardian” so I just sprinkled a few all over the entire patch, If some end up in conflict with the cannabis, they can either be pulled up easily or just get shaded out by it eventually. Also, made a patch of French Vanilla Marigolds as well. Last years got taken out by bugs as seedlings, I’m hoping I can grow them this year. Sprinkled a bunch of the transplant formula per my soil test, this has microbes that will process the excess P & K in my soil. Still need to do a Cal-Mag drench. Probably tmw. I also planted the seedlings of Yarrow and blue dianthus that were big enough now into the flower beds today. Hoping for a happy transition. :sunflower: :green_heart: Oh and…as seen above transplanted dwarf sunflower seedlings to a container I made.

Man, I don’t see how you can fail. You really put a lot into the soil science. That’s where everything happens and seeing it really makes you feel it when things look right. It feeds the obsession to learn more! Very nice work! peace

I would agree with GMan. It looks like it is filling out nicely. Unlike mine, where everything seems to die.

I take it the area with the “T Posts” is the weed (sorry, marigold) area?

Indeed! The 9 tposts mark the future spots. I’m growing over here this year…

I keep a couple of 5 gallon buckets outside in spring and summer to keep filled with water. I make sure I fill them up before night so they’ll degas the chlorine off, and use old milk jugs to haul around and water my plants. That’d be MR. Ghetto to those who didn’t already know.

Your lucky things bloom in January.
It’s April here and the blue bells and snow drops have only showed these last couple of weeks.
Got a new neighbour he was born deaf has taken it on himself clear my garden while putting up new fence.
Only thing is he took out two fuscia bushes and some roses.
Silly old coot has an infatuation with using petroleum accelerants to burn debri unnesaceraly.
I went out see what the hell was going on and burst out laughing he had singed all his eyebrows and most of the front of his head lol.
He said I like to smoke weed but don’t tell my wife, so I went skinned a joint of lemon haze and gave him some after second puff he went scurrying back to his shed muttering too strong too strong.
Apparently a fence post fell on him that day among other mishaps.
He bought me replacement roses that disappeared from door step so he bought me more then the others turned back up!
Just when I’m busy with potting up my cannabis so they got neglected and are only just started to recover.
Here are pictures of snowdrops and blue bells around a surviving fuscia, and some honey suckle I think, and the rose cuttings that got better care.

He’s one of them you tell him something and he ignores you and just carrys on.
The walls are very thin here and sometimes I hear his wife screaming at him.
But hey my last neighbour was a right square.
I cut growing right down because of them. I ended up working sealed in my tent.
I could put a grow on but couldn’t smoke it unless I cotched up in the tent or took a walk down the park (there is a park about 100-150 metres away but that’s beside the point it’s cold in January) yeah I can smoke in the house again.
Saying that there was one pheno of sunshine #4 that had to stay jarred when I had it.
Was at work and gave some to a groundworker he skinned up in the drying room then fucked of home with it and when we went in 45 minutes later it stunk.
Open the jar for less than a minute remove jar from house room gonna stink for a couple of hours!

You guys my butterfly bush is getting skeletonized by something! I don’t see a single bug on it. Looks like it happens at night and probably some sort of flying bug. I tried neem and as usual it didn’t do jack shit! I give up on neem. Any ideas? Do you think maybe BT would work or should I try spinosad?

Its awesome your working with them to find a balance …most wouldn’t give the time of day let alone the leeway you’ve given - may we all be so patient

IDk, I am told neem for all, spinosad for indoors and BT for outdoors …have no experience with BT though can say neem is limited and spinosad is the king of them all though will wipe out everything it comes in contact with no matter if beneficial or not. Guess BT is supposed to be the median between the 2

Been researching… most likely what’s called flea beetles. Neem didn’t do a damn thing. Seems spinosad will have to be the one. Not too many beneficials out there yet as far as bees and stuff. It’s warming up though and can see them coming full force soon. I’ll try the spinosad tonight. It is what it is. sigh

If you can hold off watering for a few days, I was told DME is the most effective and non toxic solution for them. I have them in that small area against the house and am going to put it down, once I can mow or pull all the stuff there now.

Okay so I’m kind of crazy, did spinosad in all the planters. I’m sure the butterfly bush will recover but, I think I’m gonna pull it out. After a year, waiting for it to take and thrive, I realize that it’s just too damn big for that space and is shading my Alstromeria and the shasta daisies that are finally established. Those daisies were such a bitch to get going and I really want to keep them and see them flower.

The forget me not seeds I threw down have sprouted out by the raspberry bush as well.

Is it weird that I planted those forget me nots for my man’s ex who died? They are the seed packet from her funeral. I am growing them for him and somehow that makes me happy.

I have some, but it’s such a pain with the ocean breezes we have here and it takes forever to cover all of my planters with it. I bought a cheap flour sifter to make it easier, but you still have to get out the goggles and mask, long sleeves etc… It’s such a pain in the ass. lol

It’s quite possible/probable that some of the flower seed I left you has a similar story from my late brother-in-law & mom.

It occurs to me now that…all plants are the inter-related continuous river of heritage, of all life. :relieved:
