I’ll face a liver transplant next week and I decided to do it without sedation. I was concerned I might get bored during the procedure so I was looking for something to listen to during the surgery.
I meant repot😅

I know there is a sedation for scenarios as such, that can keep You, Just Under consciousness. Especially when they are able to Apply Local Deep Freezing ie: nerve-blocks etc
So You don’t have to listen to how the Soccer game went, before the BBQ.
And when you become awake, You ARE Awake, and Lucid !!!
Just tell them you don’t want to hear them. Twice I’ve had it now with excellent results @MemoPacheco
I actually came fully awake in the one procedure. Excused myself and asked, since I was awake, could I go Pee. And I was able to go, then they slid me back-under while giggling

I asked to have my wisomd teeth removed without anesthesia and just use numbing agents. My original surgeon siad yes but when it came to removal day he was on vacation and the surgeon filling in said absolutely not.
I remember counting down from 10, 9,… out like an badly rolled joint

That’s so much better than the one time I went under for a shattered wisdom tooth.
I tell Mrs P:
“So, anything can happen. If I don’t wake up, I love you now and always.”
She wasn’t happy but I needed to say it.
When I woke up I freaked out the staff by looking around the room and then saying:
“Huh, done already eh? I’m in a different room, does my partner know? Also how strong are the straps on this thing you carried me here on?”
Apparently most people just act disoriented and slowly check back in while I was as coherent as possible right after the wake-up shot.
“That’s trauma for you!” I joked knowing full well how I never feel safe so these “situational awareness skills” have been honed over the decades.
They didn’t laugh but clearly they were not traumatized enough to get the joke.
I never sit with my back to an entrance.
Always find myself aware of reflective surfaces to watch people without them knowing.
When hyper-focused I tend to use my preferential vision and lock-focus on movement… which is also how I drive.
Trauma: Can’t be a super-power when it’s not holding you back!

It won’t let me download this one either @Heliosphear . I tried several online methods this time and they all told me the content has a copyright. I believe that’s 3 of them that have done this now. All the others downloaded with no issues. Another great podcast brother. Great to hear your interview @Gpaw , best of luck with you new place. Also great to hear you again @Calyxander

My dad was deathly scared of needles. He white knuckled all dental work that would otherwise have involved needles. That I know of, he never had a tooth pulled, but he had plenty of fillings and root canals! 
As for myself, I loved needles far too much for far too long. No teeth in my head any longer. (They still don’t scare me.)
