As for the mixing goes, here’s how I’ve been doing it for some time now and it does seems to give it the best mix I am able to give it.
I put the measured amounts in the bucket. I just spread it around the bottom of the bucket.
And, note again, that I use the spray nozzle and chase the mixer paddles with the spray as soon as it starts to cover the bottom and I keep doing that until about 1/2 full, then I keep the spray and mixer going until it’s full. I am able to chase the cavity created by the mixer nearly to the bottom of the bucket until it’s nearly full.
This picture does not show what is truly happening. That mixture in the bucket is clear to my eye. IF you look close you can see the bottom of the bucket in the picture.
I tried to single #6 out (landscape)…most of what you see below is her. That cola just to the right of the wall fan mount is one of her colas, it’s laying back a bit. You can see her in Girl picture 5 behind the Runt, just below the fan control.
Accepting recommendations on no fuss nutrients for Hydroponics.
I was hoping that’s what this Mega Crop would be but it’s been one difficultly after another.
I ‘might’ make one more run with it and TRY to better keep the numbers in control…but, it’s tiresome, to be honest.
Btw, this Drain & Fill was a blood bath. I was able to lay off that last wound all this time until I started this Drain & Fill then couldn’t stop just for a little blood! So, it was a good thing that I let that Anti-Siphon spray hit that wall, it washed away my blood…that was the spot I first noticed I was bleeding. Then I saw it on a white bucket where I was doing the mixing, then I saw it on the curtain in between the Bloom Room and the bathroom…blood everywhere!
Well, this Expired Certificate is causing major problems using my preferred browser - Firefox. I haven’t been able to get to the site using Firefox for about 2 days now (I didn’t actually mark time).
@LemonadeJoe, I understand you have other matters to attend to (Congratulations, IF what I read is true), but could we fix this, please?
Yes indeed, a baby is always a time consuming thing but so worth it. I am doing fine, just lying outside by the fire watching the big screen with my projector. You you and yours are doing good brother.
The worse thing about this is that it takes time trying to figure these things out. I’ve been wrestling with this just using Firefox…cleared my cache (a monumental move in my case).
Then, when I did fire up Chrome I still hit a Certificate problem but I was able to bypass that in Chrome…not so on Firefox. This is the first time I’ve ever experienced this problem like this.
It’s more frustrating than anything else. After all, it’s just a ‘pot’ site.
I had a death to report.
I don’t know IF anyone noticed I had not mentioned #3 Bubba Kush recently. I couldn’t report on it as I had no idea what was going on with her except what I could see from outside the circle.
I was in there cleaning things up, from the backside, last night - back up against that cardboard I I installed to direct the A/C air away from the Girls nearest the A/C unit so it wouldn’t beat them to death.
A couple of weeks ago I had trimmed a branch out of #3. Yesterday I clipped another branch on it and it was only then that I realized #3 has been in a bad way for some time. That stalk I removed was the last stalk on the plant! . I didn’t even realize that until I got a better look at its bucket. I don’t see any vertical stalks remaining on it - BUT, it is still really difficult in there.
I know I mentioned how the backside of the Girls was not growing well…weak and straggly. I had been trimming it back since I first mentioned it.
Well, #3 got smothered by #2 and #4 - I did not know how badly it was doing until last night. That and it being pushed hard against that cardboard on the backside contributed to its demise. I had no idea of its actually condition until last night.
You know, I had been thinking since my first grow here that reducing the numbers from 6 to 5 or even 4 ‘might’ be more manageable. I went with 6 this go round thinking I had some of the problems worked out.
I obviously did not have things worked out.
Going to take some changes, more changes…maybe reduce the numbers.
A light mover ‘may’ help as far as getting light to the backside.
Have to do something with that A/C unit as well. I ‘may’ have to raise the output duct above the Girls to solve that problem…raise the whole unit and its DIY drain pan up towards the ceiling as high as I can get it. Or, I ‘may’ have to move the unit outside the grow space and open a portal in the wall to receive it, like what I did that first go round… maybe even fabricating additional vanes to it to cool the space but now beat the Girls to death.
Also, I need to up my Yoyo game. I think I created some of the problems I’m experiencing now.
I’m thinking about Tomato Cages added to the buckets themselves and Yoyo’s above that when and where needed.
All the other Girls ‘seem to’ be looking great! Unknown what is hiding in there that I can’t see
So, RIP #3
On a positive note, this will greatly reduce my Trim Jail sentence!
Yah the latest firefox rejects expired certificates with no option to accept it. You have to engage workaround found on mozilla support site. I just sat around and waited for it to be renewed heh heh! In previous versions it would allow an exception.
The roots aren’t brilliant white but they’re not brown either. Sort of a light tan. The color setting on my camera must be out of whack.
They otherwise look healthy.
I don’t know what happened except that I let them get away from me.
I’m going to make some changes and I’m going to run another 6 ladies, one last time…IF that doesn’t work I’m going to have to bring the numbers down.
I’m going to try these…
…and when the time comes to start training them I can tie them off to their own respective cages and not allow commingling as I did, as I purposefully helped along. I Yoyo’d a few of them to their neighbors.
I think that’s how #3 got smothered.
That AND cramming it against that cardboard.
#2 has some weak and scraggly branches due to the same conditions, on that back side.
Oh, I was in there last night Louping them. Some Clear, some more Cloudy and scant Amber.
Then, this looks interesting…
It has 90° horizontal and vertical oscillation. I can program it to oscillate vertically as well as horizontally to give the Girls a break from the blasting air they’re seeing now. #5 is getting hit hard on its back side. It’s beating it up pretty good, in a bad way It’s front side is looking amazing!
I was thinking about a light mover BUT Geebus they’re pricey! $209.00 DANG! Besides moving the light to benefit the ladies I thought I could use it to benefit me to move the lamp out of the way so I can work in the circle.
Garden II Flower Day 69
I hope you’ve all made this night great! If not, you have another opportunity to attain that great on the morrow!
I saw somewhere, probably YouTube, that someone makes a sort of pontoon balancer for making these angled undercuts. Even at 22.5° it wanted to fall off the rail guide, I had to hold it down to the guide rail through the cut.
Then I wanted to add some visual interest to the display, I just routed a simple 45° bevel.
I’m going to put a 3/32nds inch slot next to that bevel for the glass, then a rabbet on the other side for back board.
Speaking of those errant cuts, especially the one that I made when the guide rail was not engaged on the Guide Pin of the Quad MFT Hinge System.
Peter Millard (10 Minute Workshop) on YouTube routed out a area in the path of the cut line and laid in some hardboard and he just changes that one strip of hardboard as necessary. Sort of like Zero Clearance Inserts in a table or miter saw.
I’m going to need some hardboard for the flag display anyway…plus, it’s a GREAT idea and would solve my cutting up the Slab!
I did rebuild that temporary Festool-ish Multi-Function Slab Base, too.
I still have some work to do with that…I at least have a spot I can lay the TS75 when not in use.
After using this for a few days I’m thinking about building another one, but with Jointed and Thickness Planed Construction Lumber. The same thing but straighter and flatter and less wonky!
Good morning, everyone!
Thanks @LemonadeJoe for making my good morning salutations possible!
I’m not sure how she’ll receive it. Especially this close to the 1st anniversary of her grievous loss.
I do believe that eventually she’ll come to appreciate it…that includes the other original maker of the coffee table bass, her other son.
However, it wasn’t delivered today as expected.
My sister sent me a text early this morning begging off today’s visit. She says she had a tremendous headache.
We’re rescheduled for Wednesday.
If this visit is delayed and delayed to a point where I have to tell her “Hey, this thing is taking up space in the woodshop, you need to do something with it!” wouldn’t be right!
Thank you for the kind words, my friend! Thank you!
There is still a good bit of Clear, more Cloudy and some Amber…
Under Microscope they look Riper…
Starting at the Runt, going clockwise…most are grouped by 3’s. I lost track after the 1/2 way point!
These 2 are same area…more illustrative of what I’m seeing bare-eyed.
I did deliver the Brothers Made Coffee Table (what I thought was a base, I was wrong, it was the coffee table … just laying on its side…not as a base ) Bookcase. She did like it very much and was excited to show the other “maker”, her other son.
I installed her Cell Phone Booster System…I still have to clamp the pole to her back bumper…I thought I was attaching to the new wooden porch she had built (pieces of which is visible in the picture). I’m going to U-Bolt it to the metal bumper instead.
It was, above, then that I discovered I put my Rabbets on the wrong sides, Depth vs Width. .128 in one direction and .250 in the other…I had them accurate but backwards!
I tried to Route it off but my Pattern bit couldn’t get it done.
Luckily I did have extra material to play with. I was able to Rip it off (with extra setup), right around 70 inches of total length before I cut my individual pieces to length.
Then I thought those Bessey Frame Clamps would be the right tool for the job of bringing all the sides together naturally…just by the nature of the tool. I was wrong! (nice Double Bevel though! )
I bought a sheet of Hardboard (cut into quarters to fit in my car) and the glass I needed. I’m not sure how but I must have told the guy the wrong measurements!
I’ll pick up some more glass (and keep this on hand, just in case), the correct glass, when I go finish the Cell Phone Booster System and gather up my clamps!
I’ve yet to decide how I want to attach that top corner. I’m pretty sure TiteBond III would hold it well enough, even over time. I know I don’t want visible fasteners there. I have thought about Spline Joints, besides being visually appealing, they hold very well…I don’t have a Table Saw Jig for making Spline Cuts.
And, I know I am going to build a base for the Display and I’m going to try and carry that Bevel or Double Bevel into it. Doing that second bevel was an after thought. I didn’t draw this out other than a dimensional sketch.
Oh, I’ve also never done any woodworking at this level ever before. You can see my inexperience in the visible Slot and Rabbets!
I have been deep in contemplation. Contemplation as to "Why am I still in Flower?!?! 86 days in Flower?!?!
I ‘contemplated’ that the Girls should have been done by now!
I have been contemplating what to do about the situation.
I 60X Loupe’d them 2 days ago. I see more Cloudy Trichomes but scant Amber - still!
It is what it is, they’re ready when their ready. BUT, I was contemplating whether to start a flush on them or drain and refill for more Flower time.
I opted with the latter. I drained and refilled on that day 2 days ago, when I Loupe’d them
I mixed 30 gallons of Mega Crop Part A&B + Bud Explosion nutrients at 1/2 the recommended recipe and added 10 gallons of just plain water on top of that - and 80ml of Hydroguard.
So that’s 3/4’s of 1/2 of the recommended recipe! That’s the formula.
Once the Hydroguard had mixed sufficiently I got the pH down to a reasonable level.
I’m going to have to develop a design on my own. I can’t find any existing examples of what I want for it anywhere.
I want to make a Medal/Commendation/Awards Display in the base.
BUT, I want to make it convertible. My Texas Girlie doesn’t know IF she has his Medals/Commendations/Awards. She can’t remember IF they exist. IF they exist they’re in a box she hasn’t come across yet.
So, I need to make both, a Wood front AND a Glass front.
I want the wood face to be the default assembly but IF she finds his Medal/Commendation/Awards I want the wood face to slide out to reveal the glass face with a suede or felt or silk material to pin things on to (still contemplating that one, too! ).
I’d like them to all fit together nicely whether using either of them. When you slide the wooden one out you take out the glace faced assembly and slide the first one in its place in back in that reserve slider spot behind the Medal/Commendation/Awards assembly…and, none of it visible when it’s all together…it disappears in the design.
I have a few ideas. I’m wrestling with them.
Then I have to select the wood for it, the Base and the Display.
I’m going to try and select some of the Spalted Red Oak. I won’t know for sure IF it is spalted or not until I mill it.
I also don’t want the spalting, IF I find any, to overpower the intended visual centerpiece, the Memorial Flag.
I’ve spent many days contemplating it.
Then, I also have some outdoor duties I must attend to.
I bought that Gravely X ZT52 for that reason.
However, I have never owned a Zero Turn mower before.
I tried to clean the under side of the mower deck so it doesn’t rust out like I have seen on other machines (not my machines).
I tried my floor jack - no go.
I tried steel ramps - no go.
You need open access to the underside, whether cleaning or changing blades.
Neither the floor jack nor the steel ramps make that possible.
I bought this…
That made things A LOT easier!
Then NEW blades - which I proceeded to destroy, AGAIN!
After my first mow with the new blades they needed sharpening.
I tried using a bench grinder. With the damage on these blades it wasn’t going to work out well…then I had no way of balancing the blades (strongly recommended).
Reasonably priced AND came with an assortment of discs. I don’t know exactly what disc I’ll need for the job - I’d never done blade grinding with an angle grinder. I have used a bench grinder to grind mower blades before but they only needed a quick sharpening, not much damage…I didn’t balance them, I should have. I understand what out of balance rotating assemblies can do to a machine.
I was hoping for an earlier delivery so I could get out there to mow today. I don’t have time now.
AND, I’ve also been contemplating how to approach an event I was invited to.
My Nephew, Joshua, died 1 year ago (September 1st).
We’re spreading his ashes in the Jacks Fork river area that he loved to enjoy.
Many hours in discussion and contemplation for this occasion. I knew it was going to happen. I did not know when it would happen until about Wednesday.
His spot is nearly a 3 hour drive away.
I received a 8AM schedule.
I need to be in bed in 1/2 an hour IF I were to attempt an 8 hour rest period (I don’t, of course! ).
I need to get out of bed, rested or not, at 3:30AM.
That’s all for now - I do have some things I need to attend to before I try to get some rest.
The Girls at doing well. I didn’t say “very” well. There is still some yellowing and browning of the leafs. I’m contemplating whether or not it is due to allowing the Reservoir to overheat and this is residual effect.
I’m not sure. Maybe letting the Nutes get to a higher E.C. level than they should have been and my forgetting that I needed to disregard the “recipe” for the Flower stage that allowed those higher levels. I knew better.
Oh, it’s a good thing I"m contemplating upgrading my Oscillating Fan game. The one in there now quit Oscillating the other day. I unplugged it…it was literally beating the hell out of the Girl directly in front of the fan.
I did install a floor fan blowing ‘up’ a few weeks ago to aid airflow down there.
I mentioned that I’d be buying one for the top of the space to replace the one I have there now. Well, I’ve been contemplating buying 2 the entire time since before I mentioned it. I very nearly pulled the trigger on 2 the other day when I bought the ground maintenance tools. I couldn’t justify it at this exact time. I will have 2 of these before I start the next go round. They’re $86 each.
I’ll use the second Vivosun fan under the lamp, pointing up - oscillating in the upward direction. It could remain static and I think it would work great for that task but I think oscillating would work as well, maybe better.
I’ll also be added that second Doran Light-Rroofed Dark Room Vent in an attempt to improve air circulation.
But, I should be in bed right now , AND…I still have things to get done beforehand. Eating something among those things .
Again, I do apologize for my delay in posting. I should have been trimming by now.
I did nothing yesterday, nothing important, other than a most important thing. I was early.
Left to Right (East to West) perspective. Momma (a former Nurse Practitioner) on the right. Her daughter, Joshua’s sister, Nurse Supervisor on the left. Her surviving son went back to my car to get my camping chair for Momma (oxygen slung over her shoulder). I brought it for me…it went to a more worthy cause. Joshua lower right.
I was offered twice to disperse Josh’s ashes where we were at. I declined twice. They all walked to the river’s edge (after her son built a sort of Jetty they could walk out and be “in” the water (above the water)) and made their dispersal.
Thinking about the speed of the river washing his remains away, I looked over the river and saw a very small “pool”…above my sister’s right shoulder. It was the only ‘pool’ I could see from where I was standing. Knee-deep where I crossed, nearly straight ahead in the 3rd image above., btw. It is a very popular “Float” river.
His remains will remain at a loved spot of his for a tad bit longer than the current insists upon.
I loved that little fucker! (nearly 7 foot tall? Over 6 foot for sure, well over 6 foot)
I did help a neighbor in need yesterday - doesn’t count!
I never checked the Girls at all yesterday and was about to skip on them again today - contemplation
I was going to go out and mount that All American 5005 knock-off blade sharpening system to my brother’s workbench (I just asked and received permission this evening)…and get out there to sharpen some blades.
I decided to at least check the Res.
Good thing I did. It was at least 10 gallons low. pH of 5.3 and an E.C. of 1.7.
I added about 10 gallons to the Res. while it was Feeding and while the Nutes resided in their buckets…when it returned it was…pH of…
Since I was in there anyway I decided to Loupe the Girls. By my eye and a 30X lighted Loupe, they look to be more Cloudy and more Amber but not what I would expect to see at Garden II Flower Day 88
I’ve done something and I can’t correct it in this post.
Additional pictures cause it to restart the “Upload…” endlessly. I was getting messages like (Paraphrased) this file can not be loaded. several of those messages.
I terminated the editor window several times to get a fresh start and that didn’t work.
I reloaded this page several times in a few different ways.
I don’t know I have done.
I’m going to post this and start a new post - continuation…
I do know what I was about to do, though
I was about to ask, “Hey, do you remember me saying that the images don’t fairly represent what my eyes are seeing regards “browing”?”
I was going to type "See that second to last image? #5 Family Photo. I reviewed these images and I saw that brown bud in the top right, about the 2 O’clock position.
Well, I went back in with my head light and it really is brown. That brown. Not sure why. It could have been a couple of things, a few of those are done by me. I don’t see any of that anywhere else.
Then, the next images was going to be a set of images. A sort of before and after Bud style
I review these images as I bring them over and I saw that brown bud in the top right, about the 2 O’clock position.
Well, I went back in with my headlamp and it really is brown. That brown. Not sure why. It could have been a couple of things, whatever it is it was done by me. I don’t see any of that anywhere else.
Then, the next images was going to be a set of images. A sort of before and after Bud style
Here they are, beside the blurring what is missing? That’s right, the first “bud” I’ve cut out on purpose. After Louping them I decided to get it under the microscope at my desk. Still difficult to pose the image in one hand and then close the shutter with the other.
I will say, it has become noticeably difficult to hold the cola’s in one hand, to get my hand around it. They’re girthy!
Dang, it’s doing it again
It really doesn’t like that image!
It doesn’t like the “After” picture, either
Let’s try the cutting
Nope, I got this
Okay, I went back and checked to see what the problem might be with the fileS.
That file was too large. That seems to be what the problem is with the 2 others but that’s not the message I was getting before the above message.
Here they are after importing them to my PC a different way than the others that did load properly but were imported the same way. I brought them into MSPaint and renamed them, that’s all.
I was trying to “Batch” upload them at the time, not one at a time as I typically do, but as a group…a large group.
I scoped them…(((I hope to batch load them ))) They are MUCH, much smaller files. It makes things easier. You’ll note I haven’t included titles I would normally attach to them. These are Date/File Coded. It’s much easier!
The first 3 images are from the lowest bud (the 1st 2 of those 3 are the same area) then the actual “3rd” image of that group, the next 3 or so are the middle bud, the last few are from the top.
After I tear into the above, it’s going to get the same Early Vape Treatment!
Oh, while I was in there cutting that brown out I noticed that the top of #5 Bubba Kush was missing in action, again.
It was bent over right at the hook I put on it to hold it up!
I mean bent over - beyond 90 degrees
I relocated the hook closer to the real of top of that top, took the slack out of it and locked it in place. She is heavy, she is beefy and she - they - are sticky!
Well, I think that’s all…
Who are we kidding
Oh, see…I’m going to give them just a couple/few more days, then I’m going to start flushing them.
I mean, it’s been Garden II Flower Day 89, 89 Dam Days!!!
However, I’ve been literal hours at this posting stuff. Approximately 4 Man…
