Where to start…It’s a long one.
Still dealing with that “dilemma”. I still don’t know what direction it’s going to go.
Without divulging too much.
I receive a VA Disability Pension. Since 2005. About 18 months ago I started receiving materials related to my Boeing (McDonnell Douglas) pension. I really never expected to get much of anything from it so I didn’t bother with it at all. It isn’t much, I mean, like, not much at all! They contacted me.
Then I started getting materials related to SSA. Did I want to receive SSA payments now or wait until I’m of full retirement age? Knowing my health situation I decided to start it when they said I could.
In October I received a letter related to over-payment.
Since I’ve been on a VA Disability Pension (again 2005) I’ve been asking everyone I could how receiving SSA would effect VADP. I was told since it’s not “Income” it wouldn’t be held against me. I asked everyone I met along the way during this whole time what the $ amount allowable is before getting into any difficulties. No one knew.
The letter said they’d start taking back the “over-payment” September 1st, 2021.
I just noticed that date. 2021. Yet the letter it is mentioned in is dated October 3, 2022
IF they do start taking “over-payments” I don’t know what I’m going to do. I was not doing well just on the VA Disability Pension. The SSA gave me a little actual $ breathing room.
I’ve been wandering around in dread this entire time.
Understand, the VA AND SSA are the same people, the Government. They control both of those agencies. I don’t control either.
I do apologize for dropping out like that. I just didn’t know how to say it and dreaded the prospect of saying it.
I’m not as productive in dread as opposed to no dread!
I’ve been fighting with myself to get anything done
But, here’s where we’re at.
This is part of #6 Bubba Kush pre-trimmer…it does show some Purple. There was quite a bit of Purple early on. Now you have to look for it. With it coming on so late I’m not that surprised.
The @Vivosun Trimmer worked GREAT. Maybe too great!
I did wipe both the lid (inside and out) and the silicone rim with Isopropyl Alcohol and that seems to have corrected the static problem…that and the below
I realized using the Wet blades were really aggressive. However, my revving it up was the real mistake. My mistake.
I changed to the Dry blades AND I slowed it down a good bit…still probably too high a speed. Those blades GET MOVING! It’s actually a quite impressive machine! It’s ingenuity it equally impressive, how it is constructed!
I haven’t tried the X-blades but I think this harvest would have benefited with the “light” treatment!
This is the last trim job…and there is A BUNCH of trim! I cut them TO PIECES!
These are the first 2 Dry Sifts…the pile on the left was the first sift I did…a light one.
Here’s the last Dry Sift…
I think I might like this Dry Sift game! Super easy. It would take some practice but I think I will do at least some dry sift with every harvest going forward.
22 jars…+ bags, + trim, + dry sift Trichs.
Double decker…
Bags of trim I can still run through the bags.
Parts I cut away, just what is in the white trash bag…the other is Attic debris. The white bag is nearly full-full.
To be honest, I’m not completely satisfied with the end product. When I first started jarring them up I was still getting a hint of nutrients…even though I did the extended double flush with a drain and refill in between. SOME of it smoked a little harsh (organic material) at first.
That harshness seems to have dialed itself down - thankfully! I just opened some of the jars and I’m not getting the same aroma as I was getting…nurtrienty.
I know I could have done better and that bothers me a bit, quite a bit, even still.
My nutrient mistake and the hot buckets definitely effect them, I’m sure…how exactly…hard to say.
I’ve been “testing” the HELL OUT OF IT!!!
And, going forward?
I don’t know. IF I do have to take that hit I don’t know IF I could ever afford to grow indoors again.
IF Liberty Utilities scalds my hide I don’t think I’ll be able to grow indoors.
Heating bills are kicking in. I just paid $420+ on Propane.
As of last week, I was still helping my sister. Changed out her Thermostat at least twice, separate trips…maybe 3. Then, since I got involved in this and knowing Winter would come eventually, I’ve been on her to get on the “Management” about getting her 120V Shore Power (she has 50A Shore Power, but not 120V) out to her pedestal and as of last week it had not been done. I had to have her find someone to run an extension cord from near the middle of her RV back to the water service behind the RV. It fell in between my visits. We had a couple freezing nights right before that and we’re about get really CHILLY. I saw a 0F in a few days. It has been moving a good bit, up and down.
Who has an RV park without Shore Power? What the hell!?!?
She needs it to run her heated water hose to prevent it from freezing over Winter. It is the only way it is done and their facilities don’t support it…Winter is here, starting today/tonight.
Then, my Winter preparations.
I’ve been working very hard trying to get the Attic fully insulated. I’m STILL working at it.
I’ve had to change my game plan numerous times. It’s a stinkin’ mess up there.
I wanted to clean up every bit of debris up there before I laid down the correct, new insulation
I started out removing that waste-of-time insulation that’s up there, cleaning the area and installing the new.
Below you can see the traces of where I removed some of the Mud Dauber nests…along with the THOUSANDS of others…
I tried vacuuming up the large chunks just to see how the Shop Vac would handle it. It did not like it a lick!
(should be landscape, sorry)
I had every intention of making it all look as close to that as I could get.
The far South-West corner. on the right of that corner is the first 2 rolls of 23 inch insulation cut in and fitted.
I had to start smashing the large chunks into smaller chunks or piles of dirt to get it vacuumed up. I used the pry bar…I couldn’t find my hammer!
Moving to the next bay…
Just above and to the left of that roll of Pink insulation is an wood-shimmed anchor bolt.
I have run across a few of them. None are tight. Looks like the wood shrank. It is anchored into the concrete in the double brick walls.
I had put a new bag in the vacuum when I started. It got about 3/5’s of a bag and lost suction. I pulled the bag and kept smashing and vacuuming, smashing and vacuuming.
30lbs.
This is the one end of 1 roll.
Here I hit the main roof support. All the rafters supporting the entire roof but is interior and not roofed, of course. Sure gets in the way of things. I have to make cuts here at restart on the other side on nearly every roll.
Oh, it was here that I decided I wouldn’t pull up what was done wrong and lay the new insulation on top of it. I can’t see how it would hurt and it’s probably what I should have done from the start.
I did start picking up ALL of the large chunks and throwing them in a bucket.
This is the other side of that inner structure I have to cut around. It is also the start of the Vestibule, the Tin Ceiling’ed area. The framing is all different. That darker spot to the left of the conduit bend is the back side of the “Coved” Tin Ceiling. It is a void.
It is a void when it’s NOT FULL OF DEBRIS!
I cleaned it all. That void is several inches deep. FULL of CRAP…not literally at first.
As I’m still working on the straight runs on the right here, I’m assessing the situation I’m working towards on the left…The Coved Tin Ceiling in the bathroom starts here going left.
Those boards were nailed down. Like from the day they laid the chimney. That’s the concrete I picked up…still going to do the deep clean (there are 2 temporary structures just to the right of that corner of the chimney. They weren’t occupied. If they return and I find them it won’t go well for them!
Here’s the other bucket I filled. It’s got to be more than the 30lbs I already dumped, not counting the more than 1/2 full vacuum bag.
This wire going down is the wall in between the bathroom and Vestibule. It’s for the outdoor light I had put in.
It is here that I decided I was done doing a deep clean. I’d pick up the large bits and lay the insulation in.
Those Coves run the width of the building…less the 2 niches (looking from the outside)…the building is 30 foot long, minus the niches…that’s about 22 foot of Coving PER SIDE, plus the short sides of those 2 rooms (6 foot, I think). That’s 32 foot plus the 22 foot of Coving that needs cleaned but they ARE FULL!
To the left of my foot is Cove. It’s in there. It’s covered up, completely.
I was using my hammer (I found it, you can see it in the pictures (right where I left it!)) to claw it out until I got to a few turds. Obviously turds. I’m not talking Wasp or even Bird Turds. This is small dog sized turds.
It just kept going and going and going until I didn’t. I couldn’t.
I must have been really done for the day, I didn’t take any pictures of that work. I dug out a smallish are and once I had turd in my hand I was done
AND, in between all that, I did this…
I used some 1-1/2 inch rigid insulation as a fill…
I made a template of the slightly larger opening than the insulation there now…
I used that template and the TS75 on the 2 inch rigid insulation…
It came out very nice!
However, those interior covers are not going to work out. With that double layer of rigid insulation it covered up the A/C casing more than is typical.
I’m going to use the cut-out from A/C and build a 2 inch rigid insulation box around it instead. I still have the 2nd A/C in the back to do.
I just did this earlier today…
I FINALLY brought them in. They’ve been sitting on the trailer this entire time.
I’ve just been dreading it! I didn’t expect it to go as easily as it did. The un-crated rolls are MUCH larger than the crated rolls, which is what I had in mind when I was pondering the matter, how I’d get those huge rolls in here. They’re strapped tight in I don’t know what yet, but they’re a lot smaller than the un-crated rolls. You see once I figured it out I tried to strap one up. It didn’t go well. I was trying to do it on the tongue of the trailer in freezing temperatures (full Winter gear on).
Now, I still have to get them up in the Loft, then up in the Attic.
Then, I have decided I’m going to have to lay that new insulation on top of some of that debris I had every intention if getting rid of. I made every move to get it done even though it was very hard on my body.
I’ll still pick up the large bits if debris. I’m just done being on my hands and knees balancing on ceiling joists digging out all that crap - WOW! I tried.
IF I can get to it in the future I certainly will. IF I can’t, let the next resident handle it!
What have I absentmindedly omitted?
I have missed you fine folks, but I’ve been a bit harried of late!
Test Cycle Begins NOW!
