WHAB’s 1924 Brick Schoolhouse RDWC

Hi, @Kabuddha wavy,

Welcome. Glad to have ya! It is my pleasure to make your digital acquaintance!

I have left this laying here because something you said struck me as odd…I wasn’t sure how I would approach it. I’ve decided winky

I find this…

…difficult to believe.

Anyone that drinks multiple 5ths of hard alcohol in one sitting will die.

The salt comment got me too. Beyond what salt we get naturally through the foods we eat salt can be dangerous.

Only salt I add on purpose is maybe french fries (typically not, normally comes with enough), corn on the cob for sure. That’s about it for salt and me. I don’t like salty foods. Most cooks over-do salt usage.

I’m not sure to take you seriously or not.

It might just be me…

IF I have misunderstood you, I apologize in advance…what I read and tried to understand resulted in my above message.

Again, welcome.

Yeah, uh, there was a lot of bad medical advice to ignore in that post.

Boy, am I ever slow!

ROFLMAO

Issues still hovering over me.

One issue resolved.

Everything I do, and have done, since 1995 has been done online.

When I got here there was no Internet. I’ve mentioned it here before, I think. I was using AT&T Hotspot - average about $900-1000 a month.

I reluctantly signed up for HugheNet.

I cancelled my HughesNet as of 02/04/2023.

Here’s what I’ve been paying…for exactly 2 years…

Here’s my last bill…

…my last bill! party-smiley-048

That’s gonna free up some cash in preparation of being Federally raped (no slight on actual rape victims).

I now have, as of a few hours ago, Windstream Wireless.

I think it’s going to come in at about $50 a month. In general, basic discussions, it was around $90 (I’ll get Disables Veteran discount of $30 a month off once it processes through). I will buy a router soon and that will reduce that bill by about another $10 a month.

I went in to the Corporate AT&T store the same day of my last eye appointment.

I was paying around $260 or so a month for telephone and DirecTV.

I need to get that cost down if what I think is going to happen happens.

I was just going to trim things back. There are a lot of costs in different aspects of Directv. Add-on costs, them slipping extras on to your account…etc. You know, free now…but becomes a billing line item.

I walked away from the store with a DirecTV Streaming box.

I got the middle package and it’s going to come in around $90 a month.

Hey, I made money!

ROFLMAO

Oh, still favoring my left eye (as if it were injured) but my brain is starting to get used to it, slowly.

Still causing me to flinch at times thinking someone or something is right there. Very difficult to read, mostly…these floaters are, when not flitting about, directly in my line of sight.frown whining

So, besides what to do with that questionable post, that’s what I’ve been doing!

How about you all, what are you all up to?

Hey friend! wavy

Yeah, I didn’t want to start a flame war (whatever that really means), but I just didn’t know what to do with it.

Ignore it? Could have.

I don’t want a fight with anyone here BUT, that’s bullshit right there!

I had to call it. I did it is the most diplomatic way as I could. Diplomacy and Wordsmithing takes time! winky

I hope you’re well and fine, @zephyr!

I was about to leave a message to see where you’ve been.

Man, I’ve never signed up for Hughes net, and we even lived with only the poor quality cell service we got here, for over a year. I could never bring myself to do it after looking at any reviews. :joy:

Wow they charge an arm and a leg. I found a point to point provider here for 80$/mo for 100mbps up/down. Game changer. It feels pricey but for living in the country it’s a steal.

Glad you’ll be able to save some cash. That has to hurt.

Oh and do you need a new router,or modem? I have an extra Motorola surfboard docsys 3.0 modem. If you want it.

Edit… Nevermind. It was in the donation bin and my wife took them in the other day. Sorry.

Hey there, my friend @Rhino_buddy!

Thanks for the thought of a message!

Yeah, I was stuck. I did everything to avoid it. I’m out there, brother! ROFLMAO

I couldn’t last a week with internet. I pay my bills on line, even ones done on paper, and have for literal decades. Online bill pay was awesome! I was traveling a bunch at the time - Contract Hire A/C Mechanic. Direct Deposit Pay Checks.

All I’ve known for decades.

Admittedly, I did have some not entirely ‘necessary’ expenditures there! ROFLMAO

I am, admittedly, a news junkie. I have to pay attention to what’s happening around me.

But, I have XM-Radio (that’s how long I’ve had it - I was traveling. Great on long distance driving).

Indoors, I lived for years listening to XM-Radio on their “Boombox”. (longer story there! ROFLMAO)

I didn’t have a phone for about 8 to 10 straight years without one.

BUT, I packed around my huge (by today’s standard) Desktop PC around everywhere! Had a nice 21(?) inch monitor, the huge box type!

Wherever I parked (my ass or my car) had to have Internet!

And, yeah, HughesNet ranks up there with only a few really bad choices I have had to make.

I am not sure, but if “point to point provider” means Line-of-Sight wireless, then yes. Otherwise, I’m not sure what point to point is, sorry.

I may be more country than you! My nearest neighbors (within a 1/8 or 1/4 mile) Moo!

Yes, it hurt a bunch. For a very long time.

Once I got HughesNet I was doing good things with $$$ I was saving. Things I wasn’t able to do the previous decade or so. And, I don’t mean what I’ve spent on grow gear…that too, but…

Good to have you stop by, brother! Good to read ya!

I hope you and yours are well and fine! Staying warm?

High regards,
WHAB

I don’t need one. IF I buy one I can return this one to save $9+ a month. What’s that, 1 hamburger a month?!?! ROFLMAO just the burger, no fries, no drink

I am looking to WiFi some additional items here IF I can squeeze out some cash.

I am looking at this router…

It’s not the least expensive, it’s not the most expensive (I was surprised at the cost of some of them).

I’m hoping with that router, besides reducing my monthly bill, I can “Future Proof” what I have for at least some time into the future.winky This router only has 2 output ports. Not that I need more right now.

Whatever it means, I haven’t seen it before today - it has WiFi 6 which I presume looks to be a future standard, at least for a time or two! ROFLMAO

It may have changed in the time I’ve taken to compose this post! ROFLMAO

Apology denied! ROFLMAO

You don’t need to apologize.

I truly appreciate the thought and the offer.

You could have waited to see my response before falling on your sword!

winky

I only hope someone gets it and uses it.

You’re a good :egg:, my friend!

That fellow up there ^ ^ ^ says he can sew you right up!

ROFLMAO

I’ve done it winky

No no this makes sense…it definitely appears I am giving medical advice, but again I’m definitely not Doctor…can’t prescribe drugs or anything. What I have learned is from years of personal experience and hanging around alot of doctors…like I said I could stitch you up in an emergency.

So the alcohol…the 2 5th was more of a generalization, I realize the the average healthy male can not drink this much in a sitting, its more of a weekend “Detox” thing. Yes, so when I get blurry vision or aches and pains anywhere the cause is nearly 100% not enough alcohol…need to drink more. When I do, I feel greatly refreshed, and mentally invigorated with a much clearer mind (the next day). My vision clears up and the aches go away. Alcohol cleans your kidneys out… The docs I hang around are all what would be described as heavy drinkers…

The salt, yes salt can cause elevated blood pressure, it does in fact elevate blood pressure. However in small appropriate amounts it does wonders for your arteries.Salt literally cleans your arteries of fats and buildup. The little particles act like scrub brushes and clean all the fat out. Sugar also does this just not as well as salt.

Hope the explanation helps !

Oh and thanks for having me, looking forward to following along!

Good Times

I had the same reaction when he started explaining how to generate infinite free electricity, how to grow 300 plants in less than 1 cu. ft. of medium, and when he told us about the wireless touchscreen tablets he was using in the 70s… best to just let him go.

I’ve got real medical advice: alcohol is carcinogenic, the equivalent of eating asbestos.

This is what I meant. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: They’re all point to point in some fashion, huh? Luckily we live at the top of the hill so we have the line of sight to the town 15 miles away. I’m impressed by the speeds from just pointing a dish at a water tower.

Our closest neighbor is 1/8th mile down the road., Unless you do consider cows neighbors, in which case they’re too close. Right across the road out my bedroom window. It’s the worst when they take the babies away and the moms cry for like a week. I don’t know how folks can do that. You can just hear their pain. Anyway. That router is beefy. We opted for one that would hopefully last into the future. Here’s what we went with. I can get decent wifi all the way out in my hoop house, a few hundred feet away.

I bet the TPlink one is just as good.

Hey @Cormoran wavy Good to see you, man!

That sounds like a wild one (or more)! ROFLMAO

The thing I don’t understand is, in my waking hours I try my best to accomplish something…sometimes successful, some not winky

Imagine IF they were to devote that time and effort to something actually constructive, some sort of accomplishment (no matter how widely one interprets accomplish)…even IF that time is arguing (not fighting, the other arguing) in a constructive manner they would have ended their day with something to look back at.

What does that(?) accomplish?

What a waste…

I do hope you and those you love are well and fine, my friend!

Hey @JoeCrowe! wavy Good to see ya, brother!

What exactly do you have against naturally occurring fibrous silicate minerals?!?!

What part of “natural” are you not getting?!?!

ROFLMAO

Asbestos could tamp down the fire for when a person drinking multiple 5ths back-to-back-to-back ad infinitum bursts into flames!!!

ROFLMAO

I hope all is well and fine for you and yours, brother!

Hey my friend! wavy

Wow…nice unit there! And, yeah, you’re swinging with that WiFi 6!

Some are, yes.

I’m not entirely sure how it all works but, I think there is Fiber Optics from Cellular Towers.

The towers receive a signal from the satellite and converts it to fiber optics and sends it out.

I think Cable Internet does the same, the tower receives a signal from the satellite and sends it out over cable.

I think I have that right. Bare rudimentary knowledge - probably wrong! ROFLMAO

I hope someone more knowledgeable than I am pipes up! I’m educable! winky

Not that kind of pipe! Uhhh, okay…maybe that kind of pipe too! winky

I just bought the router I posted about.

I ran out of Ethernet Outputs already! ROFLMAO I ran out last night. There are only 2 ports on this router. I hardwire my PC in wherever I can…so there is 1 I had forgotten about the 5-in-1 Weather Station Smart Hub (or whatever they’re calling them today!) ROFLMAO … there’s 2. No mas! ROFLMAO

Yeah, one of my nearest largest cattlemen weened his off herd about a month ago. He runs a large herd. I could hear them when I was outside but within these walls I can’t hear them at all.

Speaking of hearing and that cattleman; I went out to talk to him last night and in our conversation I added that a vehicle (his it turns out) I thought I have been hearing sounded like a Toyota 4 popper. It’s not a 4 popper at all. It’s a big ford. I want to say a F350. Might be a F250. I remember it wasn’t a F150.

A big old farm truck sounding like a 4 banger! ROFLMAO

I only noticed the sound after I started listening toward the road to try and catch him in his goings on to talk to him.

What I do hear when I hear it, he must be giving it the goose as he pulls his load up the hills here.

Oh, coincidentally, after I mentioned the distance to my nearest neighbor I decided to map it out…

First, I lied. It’s not 1/8. It is closer to 1/4 mile. X marks the spot…large cattle ranch is due South right across that road.

I want you to understand, I really do try and take your position regards meat consumption into consideration.

Sometimes I just forget.

I want you to know, nothing I will ever say, or let slip out, is attempting to goad you, or poke fun. I wouldn’t do that.

I fully understand and appreciate your stance on the matter!

I will say, you throw around the “Beef” word without a care or consideration!

ROFLMAO

I hope you and yours are having a FANTASTIC day!

:mask: “Boring”

But um Im going to start assuming y’all are joking about the energy/generator…reminds me of how heritageFarm kept trying to explain that Haze is a line, not a name…y’all need to figure out how a transformer and/or capacitor work…

Seriously though y’alls need to get that checked out… alcohol is good for you, if you have kidneys, alcohol is what cleans them and keeps them healthy (stop seeing that communist doctor that bills you in chocolate, they are lying to you… probably trying to kill you and take your shit)
