Mission Accomplished!
Now I have 3 times more opportunities to misplace all 4 of these couplers (one is still MIA )!
I actually thought I only needed 1 when I bought the first one. I only have 1 Cloning Machine II that uses it!
This Smart Phone to PC is the most confounding thing in my life right now. Sometimes it works perfectly and instantaneously and here I’ve been trying to transfer ONE image for an hour and a half and it is refusing! CRAZY!
One picture of my haul - 3 new Cloning Machine II couplers, 1 new Bulb Seal (different that the original, its size and color are different).
Then while waiting for them to become available - and they still aren’t - I took a few pictures of the Cloning Machine II test. I was insistent on doing it outdoors because I thought I remembered it being much messier than it actually was.
Just to show I’m not blowing smoke…
They refuse to transfer…F’ing strange and frustrating!
The 180 nozzles are working great! The 360 nozzles are not working as well as I would like. Some are dribbling. Everything is getting wet. There isn’t a dry spot anywhere. No ‘dead’ areas.
I took a toothbrush to them thinking calcified water might have clogged them during the time it’s been out of use. It didn’t make any difference. I then changed out the one pump for the other pump. IF it worked any better it was marginally. Maybe I go shopping around for a dedicated Cloning Machine II pump with a bit more umph!
I also might go looking around for better nozzles, maybe…
And, @Rhino_buddy, I was so inspired to wear the Citizen I even cleaned the bezel!
Was condition…
Is condition…
It cleaned up quite well. It’s a nice timepiece! I don’t normally wear it because I’m saving it for my nephew. I don’t want to beat it up or show wear before he gets it.
I also took several pictures of my 1880’s Seth Thomas pocket watch. I’ve had it for more than a few decades, probably 4+ decades. I treasure it. I’m hoping my nephew will as well. I won’t be around to check to make sure he is, so there’s that!
Okay, after I modify the Bulb Seal, the Cloning Machine II going up in the loft. I decided I’d use those oddball buckets to use and a base for the machine. I won’t be using them for anything else.
Oh…Dang! I wanted to do a test with some Rust-Oleum Automotive Undercoating. I bought some a while back and just never got around to it yet. I’m hoping one coat of that will block light from penetrating the 2 gallon buckets I plan to Veg in. I’m going to test it out on the oddball buckets!

Looking fancy and clean! Nice work!
That pocket watch is stellar! If your nephew doesn’t want it, let me know.
I hate dealing with nozzles on my cloner. Are they just not getting enough pressure? Should be fine if it’s all getting wet.
Always love to see what your working on.
I think the pin in the band failed because I didn’t even bump the watch and it was just gone. Bloop…I saw a glint of it as it decended, but it was not gonna happen.
I was floating the Current once and my buddy lost his wedding ring. He knew sort of where it fell off but it was in some fast current, and he was like screw it. (Drinking) after we got back to the camp he decided to go try to find it, and we paddled upstream, and portaged around some impossible to paddle up spot and when we got there he fucking found it instantly. I don’t even know how. This is the same guy who was in my boat when my watch fell off. Maybe I should go back. 🤷
I’ve got some nice magnets. I’ll have to check out those fishermen.
They still sell beer down that way that’s just abandoned cans in a 6 pack ring? I always thought that was ingenious.
Thanks, my friend!
I’ll ask him the next time I see him. It may be outside of his collecting window. I know he collects watches (and tennis shoes) but I don’t know precisely what timepieces he prefers. He may have no interest in it at all.
IF he doesn’t want it, it’s yours!
I am thinking the pump is under-powered. That’s a lot of footage it’s pushing through, to include the legs.
I’m looking another pump now. I have some time before I’ll need one and hopefully I can find one that fits the bill without breaking the bank.
An idea just came to me. I can try and run TWO pumps on it and see how the nozzles perform!
BRILLIANT!
I’m sure it’s fine now…it performed well the last time I ran it - excluding my errors!
And, thanks…I appreciate your interest, brother!

Yeah, looking at mine, I was wondering, when I read your words, how yours just fell off. The clasp on mine has to be squeezed with 2 fingers.
Did you have it strapped on too tight? Were your pushing the limits of the pin/band? Were you cutting off circulation to your hand?!?!
That’s an amazing story, your friend losing then finding his ring! Very cool!
IF you go back, bring him!
I’ve seen one guy magnet fish a specific ring and finding them, multiple times. He’s really good - and lucky!
And, I have been thinking about the situation. It is freshwater. IF it’s still down there I’m sure it would still work, once it saw sunlight.
Hell, it may be resting on the bottom face up and still keeping time and date!
Magnet trawl the heck out of the place! Take @DougDawson and his 1000lb magnet! You both might wind up RICH with Gold and Silver!
My Citizen seems to be mostly Stainless Steel (I didn’t put the magnet too close to the mechanism). I’m not sure about yours. Stainless Steel is not magnetic. My band must have minute amounts of mixed metals as is it slightly magnetic.
Since I read your words I have been imagining what’s been lost there over the decades. It’s a world renowned Canoeing, Kayaking, Float spot.
That’s really cool you even knew what it was when I said Current River.
I used to live right off Jacks Fork. We had 120 acres there.
I’m not sure what you’re referring to as…
???

Now that’s a nice one (both actually, but I’m looking at the pocket watch).
A good horologist could replace the hands and get it working. I’ll bet you can find one down in your ‘neck of the woods’ in a bigger city.
Try soaking the nozzles in CLR for a couple days. If it’s water deposits… that will clear it. if it’s just grit, probably not.
Cheers
G
I learned a new word! Awesome!
Thank you, my friend for the word and the sentiment!
Now, IF you had said Whorologist I would have known right off! I’m a professional Whorologist! (actually I’m not. I hate paying for something I can get for free with practiced social skills! )
I would like to see it run before I transfer to the beyond - that will likely happen BEFORE these images transfer!
I just took a few more due to the interest. One of the front, one of the back (they’re identical and in pristine condition - not showing any wear at all) and one to include an aspect I didn’t mention before.
There is a dust shield between the back cover and the works.
Also, I have never tried to clean it the entire time I have had it. Even back in the day I was aware of original finish - patina. I am also aware that in recent times (a decade or two) that cleaning Silver is not a bad thing anymore.
I’ll post them when they’re available. The proof sheet (the collection of images that I screenshotted above) isn’t even coming up now! I’ll post them, hopefully, before the new decade!
Thank you for the idea of soaking them, too, brother! I always have CLR around, mainly for my Espresso machine.
BUT, I did just run it with both pumps and it performed MUCH better. The jets were shooting water out of the tub this time.
I’m running A LOT of nozzles. that’s ‘part’ of the problem. Probably overkill, as I am wont to do!
And, the pumps have to fill the nozzles in the network of pipes AND the legs. The legs are not blocked off. I couldn’t think of a good way to close them off. I did just have an idea of using something like those bicycle handlebar plugs. Not those exactly, but that type of thing.
I think a stronger pump would definitely do the trick. The two pumps were working great!
And, I should have a dedicated pump for the cloning machine. And, these two are actually quite old, especially as continuous use pumps go, that is.
I also found these nozzles. I don’t know if they’re good nozzles. I do know they’re damned expensive.
$11 for FIVE nozzles!
I won’t be buying those, but I did find some that ‘look’ to be better than what I’m running now.
Thank you for your participation, brother. I always like to see your contributions!
mate!,

And, just like that, seemingly magically, they’re available…all of them. The ones I took hours ago and the ones I took minutes ago.
Puzzled yours!,
WHAB
Thanks for that… The best laugh I’ve had this week!!
Cheers
G
First run, one pump…
(it won’t post the one pump closeup. it says it’s oversized!)
Second run, two pumps…
You can see just by the water disturbance the second image is stirring the water up much more!
Now the 1880’s Seth Thomas pocket watch. (btw, it actually might be a 1870’s Seth Thomas pocket watch. It’s been a while since I researched it and determined its age, down to a decade at least).
Front…
Back…
Wow. I only just this instant noticed the front and back are NOT identical. Hmmm, ain’t that something!
Then, here’s the dust cover…
Thanks for the interest in the watch. It’s nice to know there are others appreciative of the work. I’ve really treasured it even in its dilapidated state. I repurposed a box I had to hold it and protect it all these years. I carved out a Brass #5 Smoke Stone box for it a long time ago. I’m sure I repurposed the box when the Smoke Stone was new to me - a LONG time ago
Edit Add: The flower above the ‘hitching post’ (I actually don’t know what it is depicting) are different, too!
Edit add: I don’t believe this site existed when I did my research a long time ago. This example can not be earlier than 1885.
“The Seth Thomas Research website was created as a gathering point for data, and to reconstruct the factory’s 29-year output of pocket watch production from 1885 to 1914”
My bad!
I’m going to dig in and see what I can find out! I’ll even contribute content. They are requesting contributions to the site.

Hey, it’s Monday!
Are you disparaging me?!?! Is that a dig?!?!

I spent my time thinking “the back and front are supposed to be different” and then I spotted it… subtle…
I’m one of those ‘end of a family line’ types, so I got all of the family ‘sediment’… and arcane knowledge there of…
A suppository of antique trivia…
Cheers
G
It is subtle. I’ve looked at that thing many, many times over the years and I really just noticed it. And, I’m quite observant, typically!
But, to be honest, today is the most times I’ve taken it out and putting it back in the box in about a decade.
You retain your families collectables and data in your fecal factory?
That’s interesting! Whatever works for you, my friend!
,
WHAB
Yeah, that site did not exist when I was researching this one…
It identifies this one as a Model 14. A ladies pocket watch. That’s pretty cool!
Serial Number 104810, if you’re curious.
I’m going to have to contact them. Some of the Model 14 information doesn’t make sense to me. And, then they say Model 14 and Model 15 overlapped. It says the Model 14 “…so open-face dials had no seconds bit” and this one obviously has a seconds hand. I’m not sure what they mean by “seconds bit”
And, it looks like the exterior finish is Nickel, according to the site.
This doesn’t look like Nickel to me. Nickel looks more like Chrome. A darkish Chrome. This doesn’t give me that impression. I’m pretty familiar with Nickel. It was used a lot on antique fixings, like hinges and pulls in antique homes, and I can spot it right off.
I am going to contact them and submit the contribution. Maybe they can increase my knowledge of it.
They’re also affiliated with a Horology organization, @Gpaw .
Btw, that is EXACTLY the second time I have ever seen that word!
And, @Rhino_buddy … regardless the outcome (potential value…etc), my word is my word. IF my nephew doesn’t want it, it is yours.
Is your wife in need of a nice pocket watch?
Hell, I’d be proud to carry that one around even knowing it’s a ladies watch.
I’d really like to see that second hand sweep at least one revolution. That would be COOL!
,
WHAB
Done.
The clock starts 12:21AM CT.
And, btw, IF it were me having the watch worked on I don’t believe I’d replace the face. It’s only original once. And, to be honest, I like how the face looks. It is still completely legible and therefore usable, in my opinion.
Some hands would be nice. Maybe just the minute and second hands as it look like the hour hand is intact, albeit a bit out of shape!
,
WHAB
Oh hell no!
Maybe a little work to stabilize the remaining face fragments but nothing else.
Now the crystal is a completely different issue. These were standard sizes and as such, are totally replaceable. Same with the hands.
Cheers
G
I’m in total agreement.
IF, however, I am no longer the owner…that decision is no longer mine
A good cleaning and yes, stabilization would be perfect, imo.
It never had a crystal as long as I have owned it. So, yeah, a crystal would be required.
I looked through ‘some’ of their ‘parts’ selection and they seem reasonably priced.
I did not look for crystals.
Some of their values did make an impression, though.
This looks to be a ‘base’ model (4 jewel), although unique in having a “male winding stem”.
I’m not sure why they’re referring to is as a “hunter”. Any ideas?
After looking at it further, it does look like there may have been a tip on that hour hand, a tip farther than where it extends in its present condition.
I’m with ya, brother! ,
WHAB
I think I figured out the Nickel thing.
I think they’re talking about the works…the inner workings…under the dust cover.
IF I have it right now, this one is a “Gilt” works.
And, IF this is “jeweled” I would expect to see the jewels…I’ve seen jeweled watches that use Ruby’s…the red is obvious. I don’t see that here.
Am I also misunderstanding this?
