I had planned to use it as a veg light, which I also do. I got it to replace a blurple that just throws hideous light and I went the other direction and got something easy on the eyes.
Makes for better pictures too.

By the way, here’s the clones from those plants as of moments ago, holding seeds, having been drying outside for 2 days, and grown on a cold tent floor with indirect light.They’re even pollinated and bearing done seeds, yet look at those white pistils! 
I won’t even tell you when the donors were planted, because I don’t want the trolls to attack.

I just got a 315 cmh. It’s gonna be in a 2x4 tent.
What height should the light be from plants?

The footprint of the 315cmh is better for a 3x3, if I remember correctly I ran it about 18-24" above canopy.

That is the main reason I switched. Since the cmh shouldn’t be air cooled it wasn’t the most fun. Specially running a 1000 in a tent next to it. Since ditching the hid lights I would never look back, unless I needed to heat my house at the same time.
Edit. And that was and external ballast on the 315!
