tito puente reminds me of the movie STRIPES w/bill murray
This entire release is awesome (hey, it’s Yo Yo Ma!), but I am partial to the Andante and Allegro movements.
This is awesome! Sadly, it’s less than a minute long. That said, it’s totally worth your time if you like old school rock and roll!
Took my wife to see the “Mule Variations” tour. She never liked Waits and used to ask me to change it whenever I played him. So when he came to Toronto (O’Keefe/Sony/Hummingbird whatever Centre) I said I was going, so she says “I’ll come”. I’m like “you hate Tom Waits”. She says “It’s a night out”. Ok.
So we go see Tom Waits, great band, of course he’s just a great entertainer…so after I ask my wife “What did you think?”
“Best concert I ever saw” she says.
Go figure.
It depends how crazy he’s trying to be. My favourite stuff is from the early years when he was just a drunk before he lost his mind on drugs.
I thought the Mule Variations album was brilliant. Sometimes he’s just too out there, but he’s certainly not the same ol’ same ol’.
Whatever it may or not be it is definitely unique. A rare thing.
