A big reason I like the Beasties over most hip hop is they could actually play instruments, and they never took themselves too seriously.

I was honestly about to say the same thing. My mom loved New Orleans Jazz, I turned her on to Tom Waits. There are quite a few of his songs that remind me of her (just because she loved them) but this one, I can’t listen to in front of others. Not without wellin’ up.
