A lot of the B movies have such great scores! Deathstalker 2 is a solid banger!

When I’m done both trim jail and making lunch I’m gonna put this on:

Trailer: (Gold in itself really.)

“A former pilot rebels against his creator, teaming up with the scientist responsible for android technology, her pet robot Spot, a rough-and-tumble riverboat guide, and a martial arts warrior.”

You need to work your way through all the Movies made by Asylum Films!!
Only a few I liked-- but I don’t go for ‘B’ movies/parodies much…
But these are the git’s that made Z-Nation (my fave) and all the Sharknado movies… and a LOOOONG list of others that fit this category!

@BigMike55 , yes and yes!

Lol. I watched them as they came out.

Issue I have with 2000+ B-movies is most rely on access to cheap equipment, and easy access computer graphics.

With such easy access to production and eventual distribution on a solo scale what we ended up with is thousands of films out there with many of them not worth your time.

Now you have some solid surprises out there like “Psycho Goreman” and “Turbo Kid”, both of which are top notch.

The 50’s-90’s B-movies have so much more going for them due to many factors.

A lot of these films are the start-ups for many seasoned players we still know and love to this day. The technical side of things may be lacking to an a-list film, but they still had to shoot on film, had to work with practical effects, and work within the limits of lineal editing.

If we watch a shit movie where these is a cyborg with treadmills for legs and it’s totally shit; they still had to do all that for real to film it!

As for the recording mediums, digital cinematography is a great thing to have, but to make a good digital image you still have to work at it. A lot of the cameras folks are using are limited regarding the overall look of an image and how it can be manipulated.

Film, even badly shot film, has it’s built in look which is very much dependant on what stock is used in addition to the numerous other factors to control how the image is exposed.

So, in short: Asylum films are fun, but total crap when we compare their production value side by side with body’s of work outright aiming to be “mockbusters”.

Fucking love the Sharknado series though, and Snakes on a Train is a personal favourite.

I agree…basing 90% of their production on ‘rip offs’ of other films and using the name recognition to ‘trick’ people into watching it (because it sounds exactly like a popular movie- just spelled wrong) is one of my pet peeves…no matter what company!

Well… I’m not sure if those “butt-monsters” are in the original Doom Patrol comics series, but I wouldn’t be surprised. The series’ creator, Grant Morrison, is one of the most terrifically creative people on the planet. And he’s done just about all the drugs!

I’ve been really digging this new season of Severance

Trippy sci-fi Kafkaesque mystery with great characters. It’s a blast to watch while blazed.

BONUS: I’m about to start this (free) audiobook tie-in to the series, titled The You You Are. It’s a book that exists within the world of the show. And now it exists in the real world, so my outie can enjoy it too!
