This is probably going to echo the general sentiment of everyone else, but here seems more peaceful. generous, and patient. I lurked for many, many years and just finally signed up a couple of days ago. Lurked on several others as well, but got tired of all the threads that eventually devolve into weird arguments about simple disagreements and e-feelings. I don’t see that as often here. OG is the only online community I’m signed up with.
I’ve grown this plant for a couple of decades now & other than one family member, I have never met in person anyone else that grows, well nobody that I’d also let know that I grow. It makes it hard to trade knowledge, beans, successes, failures, etc. So, its cool to be able to talk to folks finally. You guys are my only secret-hobby friends.
Anyhow yeah, have learned some good things on here from good people, hoping to return the favor.

I think the age demographic here is a little older than other forums which helps a lot. Peaceful hippie types mostly (thankfully). You can talk shop with people or talk shit with @Foreigner but either way you’re gonna have a great time

I think this hobby attracts a lot of anti-rules anti-establishment types, blown away by the consistency and clarity of the team here keeping everything on the rails. Tough line to walk!!!

Yet another brand new troll account got lit in to by myself and other senior members. We all got a warning, the troll nothing. Of course the troll got banned within a day or two after. Pissed off the people that were that sites bread and butter. Check last week ghost own over there with a handful of clowns still giving out wrong advice.

There’s a serious feeling of responsibility to “maintain the garden” here, to make an attempt to be non toxic, to not shit where you eat, and to let your compost cook and mellow. It really is an oasis in a fairly barren landscape, and I don’t even know how it gets kept so clean. Must be the common objective or some sort of holistic regenerative practices lol
