Yeah they price gouge bad, and screw over the farmers. I try and buy as much local fresh groceries as possible, but a lot you cant get out of season. I also get a lot from Costco they only mark up 2% and have great organic selections.
Even in season itâs hard to get good produce around here. There is the odd âfarmers marketâ around but the prices are unbelievably high. And I suspect it all comes from the main produce terminal anyway.
My fish subscription is a big win though. I get an order 4 times a year and it puts supermarket fish to shame.
I basically live in a food desert. There are few to no options.
Fun fact about loblaws - they gauge their prices relative to the affluence of the neighborhood they are in. Iâm sure they argue higher rents or whatever but I donât believe them.
Wow that quite the lineup of ingredients it would have to be one of those special event meals for me to take that one on! Thanks for post sounds like and awesome dish!
THATâS IT.
Iâm making Indian Pizza later this week. Will post deets.

In NS we are surrounded by the sea so get spoiled for choice and price, but the last 3 months prices have jumped 30%, some parts of the year you can get Lobster for $7 a LB.
If I could make a decent Keto dough I would be all over that myself. Could always try a cauliflower base I suppose. Might try that on Friday when I get to eat again.
Yeah thatâs why I didnât want to post it originally off the top of my head from memory lol.
Me when I come in this thread hungry:
Not the prettiest pics as usual but some sandwiches from a local spot I really like. Pretty cheap IMO and most things are made from scratch. 20 bucks cad for 2.
One of them has BBQ pulled beef, romaine, tomato, orange cheddar, chopped pickle and some tangy white sauce no idea whatâs in it. The other one is my current fav. Fried chicken (cold) tossed in hot sauce, tomato, greens, chilli pepper cream cheese, chips that have a curry like taste, carmelized onions and dill mayo. I can often eat 2 of these in one sitting like a savage while sitting on the couch
Gallons and gallons of blackberries
The under-ripe berries are the best, by far. Iâll make a jam; and then Thumbprint Cookies.
Last nights dinner, broccolis from the gardenâŚbtw, we slaughtered some hogs last wknd. and its hanging in a freezer/cooler right nowâŚwe will be butchering it this wknd. my buddy is gonna cook the pigâs head this time.
âIt will soon be over for you potato.â
Oh it was over about ten seconds after I took that pic.
âNo no not the eyes!â
FUCK! My Dad just sent me a photo of his Carolina Reaper pepper asking âAre you ready to try the heat this year?â
My answer: âWith all the fiber of my being⌠NO!â
@Foreigner , Iâll ask him for some for Mrs. Foreignerâs brekkie
I think she laughed. She looked at me like Iâm an idiot which is half the battle.
Hell no but the pool looks inviting.
