Seems simple enough for sure …bookmarked this it’s intriguing big fan of coconut !! Now I have to find the Ube flavoring …interesting to see it’s a yam! How about a sweet potatoe replacement hmmm

My mom also topped it with coconut strings…you can get all the ingredients at Amazon or any Asian Market… We never used regular sweet potatoes, but I guess you can but it won’t be purple…BTW, we’re butchering a hog today and I’m cooking the pigs head with an apple in it’s mouth for the San Francisco 49’ers game…

I love Jackfruit…I buy it whenever it’s available in my area…got the pigs head for the game tomorrow in a plastic bag in my unheated enclosed front porch, no room in the fridge…

This was my first time having it. I’ve always seen it at the fruit market I shop at but I’d never had it before except in a smoothie at a restaurant. I suspect mine could have been a wee bit more ripe which is why I ended up making a smoothie out of it. The flavor of the fruit was good but it seemed a tad firm. Next up on fruits I never tried is dragonfruit. I’ve got one that I’ll cut up in the morning

@PhilCuisine
what’s the deal with the whole apple in the pigs mouth thing? is that just tradition or does it have a purpose?

I bet if you split a pigs head in half and cook it you can probably get $25-30 for half a roasted pigs head in your shop instead of just throwing it away…

Damn 49’ers lost but hell we ate well though…

We usually butcher 5-6 hogs around March and these farmers have been keeping the pigs head lately and have been cooking them ever since I turned them on to roasted pigs head, the jowls are the best part…before they would just throw it out in the woods for the coyotes…
I’m thinking of some how trying to pimp out my roasted pigs head next time I cook them…
