You said a 400W heater puts out more heat than a 1000 W HID light and ballast.
This is plainly wrong.
I said 1800W of HID lighting warms my place up more than a single 2000W heater. I did NOT say it put out more heat. If you think I said that, quote it. I can quote you as saying a 400W heater puts out more heat than a 1000W HID light and ballast, which is much more wrong than anything I have said here.
Here, I will quote you saying it.
I will try to get you to think further than just the next witty reply.
What do you think happens to the 330W of light that the bulb emits?
It strikes surfaces and turns to heat.
You are saying it is fundamentally impossible for 1800W of energy, properly guided, to heat a place more than a point source of 2KW.
I have never said that a 1800W device puts out more energy than a 2000W device, only that the heat from it, in my place, where I have arranged to maximise the utility of the heat in the air, gets my place warmer with 1800W of HID lighting than it does from a single 2KW heater.
The point, which seems to always get lost in arguing the toss, was that using lights to heat is not as stupid as some people who have not thought fully about it seem to think.
This assertion is just wrong. How much will you argue before you admit this?
