What's is Kaua'i Electric?

I recieved 4 freebie seeds that are supposedly a hawaiian sativa called Electric Maui. They contain a strain called Kaua’i Electric. But the info is conflicting. Is it still around and what is it?

Dunno, run it and report. We have members from both of those islands here, will reach out and ask what they know @ArkansasTraveler !

I would but my grow room would need a serious humidifier upgrade. Right now I’m mainly growing indicas until summer.

It’s originally a Hawaiian Strain but the last person who claimed to have it and is responsible for most of the beans out there of it is considered a scammer by most people in the community , there is a old thread on here from his derailment as a member , some Hawaiian name seedbank I can’t remember but the info is here on og,
He was in Hawaii , so he could have had legit genetics but his age and attitude towards everybody realy dident help his reputation. I have some of his lines though , I know I have the blood but I think I have one other but maybe not. Haven’t seen many people grow his gear out but have seen a few breeding with and resealing his lines , like the aloha white widow…

Vader OG has a grow series on YouTube where he grows Maui Wowie and Kauai Electric, definitely an awesome grow show with tons of bud porn.

You don’t need high humidity to grow certain plants.

Kaua’i is said to be the rainiest place on earth, so it might be one. I’ve grown out everything without a hitch so far this winter except some Barney’s Farm Acapulco Gold*. I have one male and one female barely hanging on. But I have a couple skunk/choc. thai crosses that are as trouble-free as the indicas.
And I appreciate the good info everyone.

  • although the AG is an f2 from socal on strainly and I don’t know anything else about it-not even sure that BF ever released this in reg.

I know that puamanaohana.us shows Kaua’i electric as an available product.

I have read MANY posts on various communities that this guy is a scammer, BUT that was after I placed a few orders with them.

I was happy with pricing and customer service, also very happy with the seeds I received.

I am not Hawaiian and living in Canada believe it’s completely possible that any “Hawaiian” bud I smoked in the past up here really isn’t.

Having said that, the Puna Duck and the Hi x 5 seeds I grew out from Puamana were among the tastiest plants in every grow I’ve done with them.

I read about (and had a friend tell me about) their GDP electric, (Kaua’I electric x GDP) and am waiting for that to come back into stock.

WARNING:

If you sign up for the newsletter at puamanaohana.us, use a THROWAWAY EMAIL ADDRESS as you will get several spam emails a week from them. (You’ll also get codes for 40-60% off your order, which can be combined with their BOGO offers, giving you 3 packs for the price of one.

Assuming those are a real acclimatized landrace from “the rainiest place on earth” (rainiest place on earth is in India) it’d be a super loose no-discernable-cola “string of pearls” or “wheaten” type growth…it probably isn’t…that PuaMana guy is a well known scammer. No shortage of folks peddling “authenticity” in the community. It’s always been that way. For example, Barney’s Farm AG bear no resemblance to an actual tropical narrowleaf from coastal Acapulco.

You can grow narrowleaf tropicals just fine in lower humidity. They aren’t epiphytes.

I’m not sure about the effects of rh on plants having so little a difference that you can grow tropical nld “just fine” in very low rh conditions.
As for the rainiest place on earth it depends on the list but Hawaii has long been said to be the rainiest place on earth. But It appears you are correct. Although that title appears to be from monsoons and hurricanes. And also yes I know about the BF AG being a marketing gimmick.

ugh. I reread my most. I didn’t mean to sound shitty in any of it and managed the opposite in all of it. sorry about that #vernal

None taken.

Cannabis is a very tough plant. There is less difference between the extremes than you imagine. It’ll grow fine in your indoor setup if you give it plenty of light air and proper nutrition, same as any Cannabis plant. An Afghani landrace does OK in arid conditions but that doesn’t mean it wouldn’t appreciate a few extra waterings.

The freebie pack I received only contained three seeds. All sprouted easily. I managed to kill one by accidentally brushing my hand over one of the seedlings and breaking it in half. Other two were fem but one was clawing and looking rough frow way too much nutes in amended soil so I just culled it. Here’s the one left.
12/12 from seed, early flowers. Haven’t kept track of the weeks but the isn’t too old-maybe six or seven weeks or so.

Kauai Electric, was all over Oahu up until the big DEA bust on Kauai in 2007-

They grew a lot of really good herb for several years, and it definitely dried up after the bust…

Yeah, it was the Puamanaohana.us. He was always bringing the drama. To be truthful, I never heard anything bad from people who went ahead and grew their gear. @webeblzr took a chance on them about 6 years ago and I believed he was very impressed with the grow.

I have no idea of the real story, but from all that I read it seemed to me that he sort of made up a lot of the story behind him and the company. I think the dude was living in Oregon and pretending to be from the island. So, I think the island locals locked on to him and never let up on him.

But, I haven’t ever heard anyone say the seeds were bunk. I’ve always been curious myself. I was in Hawaii in '76 or '77 and smoked some really top notch smoke and I always wondered if he had any of those genes. I haven’t seen any flame wars about him for a good long time now.
