What's your curing technique?

Ya i’ve found really old untrimmed outdoor nugs in my garage and stuff that still maintain that stickiness that seems to disappear if you overdry or dry too quickly. Its protective like a banana peel or something lol, you cant argue with nature!

Same for me. But I ran a little fresh frozen bubble hash and it blew the dried away, so I guess I’m all wet trim now!

Wet-trimming just sounds like a pain in the ass. But if you’re actually gonna make hash out of it and you’ve seen the best results with that, do it. My problem is I always say I’m gonna make hash out of my trim and never do. I actually have a freezer bag in the, uh, freezer filled with probably a pound of trim from my last few grows from before I bought my press. Been sitting in there for about a year and a half. I throw all of my old weed that I’m never gonna smoke into that bag, too.

One day… One day I’ll make hash out of it haha!

I can’t even tell you how reassuring it is to see others saying curing is a mystery to them. It’s the one area of a grow I consistently struggle with. My last run smelled decent, had a great stone, and tasted like straight hay.

Wha’d you grow? Mighta just been the genetics. The California Cannon from my last grow tastes like ass. Hot smoke and nastiness. The high is very strong, though. The Headbangers and Moonshine Haze from the same grow, dried and cured the same exact way, taste fucking delicious. I have to believe the genetics played a big part in the differences in flavor. The Cali Cannon smells really good, but the flavor? Forget it.

True but I’ve had way too many plants that smelled face melting when alive only to be genero hay after drying. I’d really love to dial in a system that I can use consistently.

Do you have space that you can dedicate to drying? I used to use a 3x3 tent just for drying and that always worked well. But then I turned that into a veg tent. Now I dry in the shower of the bathroom in my grow room. Been using that to dry the last couple grows and it works great.

Same. What gets me is when I burp the room smells great but get up close to the bud and it’s mediocre.

I want one of those digital CureCork things but I go back and forth paying that much when the alternative should be as easy as opening a few mason jars. Might be worth it in the long run though.

I generally dry in the box I flower in with just the scrubber going, no fans in the room.

There’s also this curing technique. Too sophisticated for me but it probably works incredibly well.

I’ve seen that or something similar before (in a video not real life). Looks cool but I’m with you that it’s a little too sophisticated for me. Maybe if I grew a ton at a time.

Try the freezer cure after a 14 day hang trim then vacuum seal toss in the freezer to store . Trust me it works .

I need to work on this too. How long in the freezer? And can it be a deep freeze?

Yes deep freeze is what I use I’ve had some have a birthday in the freezer with not much complaint the trick is to compress but not squish the buds while sealing and humidity is sealed till you cut the bag open. So proper humidity prior to sealing is critical.I usually seal excess and it would have a min of a month in the freezer, daily smoke I’ll store in vacuum canisters with a humidity pack.

Quick pre trim take all the big leaves off, then into paper bags for a few days, after the paper bags into jars, burp the jars 3 times
A
Day for the first week, always works for

I saw a thread on 420mag on drying in a refrigerator for a slow dry . Curing was still done in jars. However the refrigerator drying apparently preserves the most volatile terpenes. Haven’t tried it as yet . No space in my refrigerator .

It is a different no doubt about it. I have done it and would now but don’t have an extra fridge for it. It is greener…tastes more chlorophyll and more pine flavor left in my experience. But then the chloropyll taste disappears in a good cure. It will make everything in the fridge smell and taste like it though

Never had an issue drying but been doing outdoor for years. It’s about finding a cool environment low humidity 1 week hang or until stems snap sound. Sugar shack trim all fan leaves/ leave some sugar leaves.

Sometimes jar if dried out and increase humidity
Other times just throw it in freezer.

It’s pretty simple like a receipe of environmental science and cooking it just sticks with you.

Think I remember grass smells means it’s to wet when curing. Cold is better than heat in proper drying. That was so long ago teens.

I used to use Boveda at my grow in Oregon a few years ago and I switched to Integra boost because they seem to preserve the terps much better. Two years later I cant say anything different.

This is even better at just above freezing but it takes much longer. You can achieve the same results with good regular curing methods. The trick is to never forget to move them, burp them or give them what they need during cure.
