When do you run your lights?

Just wondering how the community likes to run there lighting schedule? I, personally, run my veg lights from 4 pm to 10 am and my flower room from 6 pm to 6 am. This way I can see my plants before I leave for work and deal with my gardening after work. Just my way what’s yours?

Right now as it is winter I have my veg tent from 1:00 to 21:00 and my flower tent from 1:00 to 13:00. As you can see I am a night owl, I check them before going to sleep … zz|nullxnull

7pm to 7am…my 3 am to 7 am plant check is awesome. Kids are sleeping, wifey sleeping (apparently) and uninterrupted visual checks for each plant…I usually let the dog out and he keeps me company…but we just got a new kitten and she has a pretty green thumb.

3pm-9am veg. 7pm-7am for flower. I work some crazy hours. So I cant check on thing when I get home or before I leave in the am. I also live in a desert that gets to over 40c in the summer. In the winter the heat from my grow setup helps to keep my basement warm at night, our bedroom is downstairs as well, so it keeps the Mrs happy

We have variable daily rates and the rates change from summer to winter so in order to hit the lowest rate at night:
Veg = 11:00 AM to 7 AM (I noticed some improvement going from 18Hr to 20Hr)
Fwr = 7 PM to 7 AM

Does anyone see any difference between 24/0 and 18/6?

Or with flower 10 on 14 off?

Other than reveg I dont see any advantage to 24 hr light cycles. It is the dark that allows the plants to photosynthesize, and I have always thought, in my mind, that the dark period is as important if not more so than the light. Indoor growing makes the grower" mother nature", and gives you complete control.
Just my thoughts. Cheers

I do sure you do get some more growth 24/0 but for the amount of difference 18/6 is fine by me.

and agree on a dark period

I have two tents, running veg and auto 24/0 in one tent other tent is supposed to be flower 12/12but only got autos flowering right now so its on 24/0.

I grew a bubblegum auto 24/0 and that thing was stacked and grew like crazy, I didn’t weight it but 5 freezer bags stuffed full harvested.

IDK that dark period matters in veg, I think that they do grow faster when given more light. Might also be strain dependent, some varieties will take better to it than others.

veg 4 am to 10pm bloom 8pm to 8am 9-9 with daylight savings. before and after my sleep time for everyday access to bloomroom. Electricity is cheaper at night, here. If veg is dark I just turn lights on, do my shit and turn off. My veg room is open to ambient light anyway.

7pm to 7am flower and as much time off peak as I can during veg since it’s basically half the energy cost.

I run my lights after 6pm for a couple of reasons. I live just slightly north of Satan’s bunghole so it’s easier to keep the temps from the hps down, and after 6 is usually off peak hours so the juice is 1/3 the cost.

Flower 8PM - 8AM. Veg 6PM - 12PM. Rates are much lower during off- peak hours. Not giving a nickel more to the electric company.

Mine are both 18/6 at the moment, so on at 5pm and of at 11am.
When it’s 12/12, it comes on at 8pm and off at 8am.

I try and keeps the lights off in the hottest times of the day, as I’ve no air con etc to keep temps down otherwise.

Cheers Johnny
