When does flower start?

I made a “when does veg start” thread a while back that I learned a lot from, and right now I have a couple plants that are taking forever to throw pistils. So here we are.

When do you start counting days? I’ve always gone by the first day of 12/12.

I am in the at flip count starts camp.

Is there another camp for indoor growers?

There is. And you’re invited

I think some people wait to see pistils, and I’m sure there are other methods. I’m curious myself.

Yes some like to give it that extra week before they start counting. It doesn’t matter either way really.

I only really ask or keep track in the first place because I have genetics that should finish at a certain time, supposedly. But I’m more worried about looking at the the trichomes. :man_shrugging:

Not that I count on those numbers to be accurate, but it’s an interesting reference to think about as they grow.

Ya I think its important to track it somehow. I start at 0 the day I flip and go from there.

Pick whichever you prefer and roll with it. Just stay consistent no problems.

I keep track of veg and flower times for feeding purposes mainly.

Yeah, I have to know what day I’m on for that reason, regardless of when I start counting. What do you use for nutes?

Dyna Gro, now renamed Superthrive, cheap easy and effective, I grow in soil.

Just for my curiosity why the need for such accuracy? My nutes take a little play to get the right dose but then it’s every water. Do you not fert every water? I guess rain counts maybe.

I usually feed every other watering if they’re growing vigorously.

Cool. I think we’ve got very different methods more just curious on your thought process.

I only back off a bit in flower if I get burnt leaf tips, so do you feed little and often?

I also judge by getting just the slightest tip burn. It’s even a good thing. It means you’re perfect.

And yes, every watering. I’ll tweak the ml’s but once they cruise it doesn’t change much.

Flower starts when the light schedule changes, because it’s a solid definitive point for every plant :+1:

I grow my photos out to be 1/3rd the size i ultimately want them to be before flip. I allow the extra 2/3rds area to bend and tuck under a scrog to fill out the rest of my screen if i am doing a scrog, or use the same method of 1/3rd size for bending and tying down branches to fill out space in the grow room. :metal::metal:
