I haven’t really ever had like a real big long beard. I am quite impressed with people that do. It gets all itchy. I’m sure some very hard work. It’s right underneath your mouth I’m sure it gets dirty. Mine would. Like I said, I wouldn’t let it get very long and then it would get itchy a little bit. If I let it get too long and then shave it, I’ll get like a rash for some reason. I think they’re cool and long mustaches also.

I let it grow after the surgery, it’s one year now. I’ve very hard time to dial it and it’s growing thick. Within a month i have a ā€œlumberjackā€ beard that look pure chaos lol I start to test to brush it with oil beard … i hate the sensation and i don’t have the impression it’s working lol

I hate shaving in retirement… lately i let it grow out for several months till it starts to get longer thick and bothersome. Then it comes off.

Cant stand a beard at all in warmer temps.

I haven’t had a full clean shave in at least 12+ years.

I started ā€˜growing a beard’ a month or so ago after having a short trimmed beard for a few years. In reality you don’t ā€˜grow a beard’, you either shave or trim a beard, it grows by itself. What happened was my beard trimmer broke and the new one I bought turned out to be the wrong kind of trimmer so I just kind stopped and then people started commenting on my beard lol.

Put one on for the winter but come spring , off it comes.
Just clippers every few days when it’s off.

Those of us with a small chin need to wear a full beard; otherwise, we look weird as heck

Maybe around 1998 i last saw my chin.
I trim my face hair every 2 weeks into a manageable goatee.
Mrs. W. doesn’t like ā€œspikyā€ kisses.

I was never one to clean shave. But it’s been well over 10 years since I’ve shaved at all. Last week someone asked me if I was auditioning for ZZ Top. My beard is about 12 inches long. I also let it grow out to hide the scar from neck surgery.

I’m now 75, and since I was about 20 I’ve scraped the hair off my face one time, cumulatively for three weeks every other day if I recall correctly. That was in the mid 1970s. I bought a razor, and my plan was to shave for six weeks, but there was no way in hell I was going to perform that silly ritual for yet another three weeks! Note also that I did not shave my mustache. I have never shaved it off completely. Completely you say??? Read on.

I’m not sure if this qualifies, but one other time, when I was in my early-twenties, I shaved half my beard and the opposite half of my mustache off. It didn’t last a week, and I had to borrow a friend’s razor, but I did it nonetheless.

My takeaways from this experience were, first, scraping the hair from one’s body is a foolish exercise, at least for me. I don’t particularly like raking leaves either. On a more serious note, the things I noticed most while clean shaven, and believe I can recall to this day, were the feel of the sun and breeze on my cheeks. That was almost worth the cost of admission.

I’ve been married three times and lived with another woman for six years. Only my first wife, the mother of my children, ever saw me clean shaven.

Because I worked with my hands much of my working life (such as it was), I kept my beard trimmed pretty close. It can be dangerous working around power tools (and some hand tools) when you have a long beard, thus the short facial hair. I also kept my head hair fairly short, and for the same reason. Safety. Not any more. You can see my head hair, the darker stuff, peeking out over my right shoulder.

Me this morning -

As a stoner/retiree, I have no longer have any reason to keep any of my hair short.

I remain the long haired bearded weirdo that straight people used to call me.

For me, the problem with long mustaches is they functionally get in the way of my food hole. If I don’t clean my mustache thoroughly after each bite, I often get an odd mixture of flavors from my food! Of course, when it’s long, it can also be a snack storage device!

I shave every 3 days. I shave my head at the same time. I have been a practicing buddhist for 46 years and have shaved my head and face all those years. I look exactly like this.
