I think you should get the wettable sulfur. The elemental sulfur in that bag is insoluable in water. Throw a teaspoon in a mason jar and you’ll see. The wettable sulfur mixes much better and still plugs up the hand sprayer. 98% of the elemental will sit on the bottom with 2% suspended in solution but in no way dissolved.
Some 15 days later, no issues on anything that I treated so far.
And to qualify that… the few spots PM that I did see in flower are needing to be smacked down bi- nightly with green cure…that tent is right next to the tent with the treated veg plant…they are breathing from the same intake source…should be a good test!
How far along are you in the flower tent? As long as the PM is still growing over there I’d be nervous it’s going to eventually spread to the veg tent. I had a similar issue but was only 3-4 weeks into flowering. I just couldn’t handle the constant losing battle of trying to keep it at bay. And then seeing the PM climbing up the stems around the buds I just scrapped it all.
I always recommend spraying all plant material because unless you can see the mildew it’s hard to determine how far the infestation has advanced. The petunias in the green house are 20 feet apart, and I didn’t spray the second plant because it appears to be mildew free. I am running all sorts of stupid trials on that parasite. Also! I’m impressed with you all here… you’re doing good work - keep it up! The further the mildew extincting information makes it, the happier I am. I’m not saying sulfur is the ONLY way to kill it off, but wow look how effective it is. In my entire growing career, I’ve never seen a more effective mildew killing substance. lol, of course…never spray sulfur in bloom. That shit never comes off. Gross!
Not sure it would stop spores but i use this carbon filter screening in my tents, I glue it over the vents
and my male tent is right next to my flower tent(not my first choice) and have not had problems with this setup as far as pollination anyways in the 4 years I been using this set up
It’s a perpetual tent… youngest are 4-5 weeks into flower others are in for 8-9 weeks. What I have for pm, is not much and on one plant…but in a tent w/others…I check it every night and hit it with GreenCure when I see it, knocks it back good. The others get hit once a week as a precaution.
I too am battling this pesky white substance. It seemed to pop up over night. I’ve killed 8 plants so far. I have a pineapple express in flower that has it. I hit it with need oil spray and I believe the mildew laughed at it. So yesterday I hit it with hydrogen peroxide to hopefully keep it at bay until I harvest. I’m thinking of maybe just turning it into bubble hash if the need oil leaves a taste on the bud. My veg tent and mothers have been hit with eagle 20. I plan to hit the mothers with another round of it. After reading this thread. I may pick up some sulfur to treat my plants I plan to put in flower. I also ordered some sporicidin. It was a recommendation from a buddy that grew shrooms. It used to be used in hospitals, not sure if it still is. He used it when doing agar work because it kills everything. I’m going to clean my rooms with it after my next spraying to hopefully kill as many spores as possible.
Doing great so far, thanks! All the plants I’ve got going were definitely infected at one point. And now they’re big healthy ladies starting flowering. Have not spotted the mildew in a long time now. Finally washed off all the sulfur so I can better inspect.
If it does come back it will surely be my own fault for continuing to recieve infected clones from PNW on Strainly. He keeps sending me infected cuts to apologize for the other ones that had it prior. It’s kind of a running joke now. A never ending cycle. But I keep taking them because I’m a glutton. If Joe needs any mildew samples they are guaranteed to deliver. Now I take in his stuff at a different location and immediately spray them with sulfur. They don’t get introduced until at least a few treatments.
I’ll be looking for it every day for a long while I’m sure. I’ll keep updates of any new developments. But I do feel confident using the sulfur to treat it and I wouldn’t say that about the several other methods I tried before that.
lol! I’m currently torturing a colony I found. Your method of sterilizing the clones before you bring them into the grow should keep you problem free. Be sure to spread the word! Sharing is caring
It’s funny u mention pnw. I believe that’s where my infestation came from too. I ordered a mendo breath cutting from him. I blame myself for being lazy and not giving a thorough check tho. I didn’t see anything, but I know spores can be dormant for a bit be4 rearing their ugly heads.
Will be harvesting a Chinook Haze in the next day or so and it’s been in that tent 65 days. I scoped it and it’ free of PM and that would not have happened without the preventative GreenCure treatments imo.
Here’s a vid on using the wettable sulfur. I notice he’s using 2 tabs a gallon instead of 4. I may give that a shot, because the latter mix is clog city on the sprayer. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rjMZM1Kjljo
Believe me, I’m all too familiar with their setup. He’s detailed his PM treatment with compost tea spray, which clearly isn’t working, but he swears by it. He sprays off the surface mildew with some preventative right before shipment. So they look good for a week, maybe even 2, but eventually it comes right back and by the time you spot it it’s already been spreading. No wonder he’s months behind on orders now. He seems to understand that sulfur will sterilize it all, but he has a shared wall with another business and says he can’t stink up the place. Truly sounds like a personal hell of mine. But hey, if you know it’s coming and treat for it right away then it’s fun enough to try these unique cultivars. He resends so frequently because of failures that you can really just pick and choose whatever strains you want for relatively cheap. I’m not as scared of PM as I used to be. He says 90% of the stuff he gets in has it already. Yikes, what a scene.
I looked into this when I was having problems and I don’t think carbon scrubber prefilter is small enough to stop pm spores. I got a roll of MERV13 filter fabric from amazon for like $30 to put over my intakes and it’s enough to last me a lifetime. MERV13 should be so small that no spores, bugs, eggs or anything like that should be able to get through.
@willie green cure is potassium bicarbonate. You can get in bulk dirt cheap and mix with water and a drop of dishsoap or whatever. I used it for months and it kept the pm at bay when sprayed every 5-8days but never got rid of it.
