White spots on my leaves, no bugs, not PM 🤷

Any thoughts what might be going on with my plant?

There are no bugs, it’s not PM, if you hold the leaf up to a light the white spots are right in the flesh of the leaf… I think it’s a deficiency, but…?

Any thoughts?

Cheers

Hmmm it almost looks like evaporated water sediment… did you get the leaves wet or anything? If not maybe boron? @luxton

I’m no pro though by any means lol

Thrips? Spider mites?

@JohnnyPotseed @BigMike55 @MoBilly what u guys think?

Have u checked with a microscope? Are you positive no bugs? It kind of looks like spider mite damage

For sure not spidermites…i had an infestation of those lil pricks before (a few years ago, didn’t have this tent then) and know them well, lol.

When you hold a leaf up to the light it’s physically changed the flesh around the white parts… I’m not sure if I can get a pic of that, but I’ll try in the morning

Some leaf cell damage, and pics of the underside… I know trips are small, but I don’t see any evidence of the lil buggers…? What am I missing?

A different plant

Man, I can’t see this as anything other than thripes either. I have a hunch that one hour or another you’ll find something that confirms it, I’m sorry. Still, I hope I’m wrong.

Well crap, lol.

Thrip traps have been ordered and will be here Wednesday. I’m crossing my fingers, typically bugs and aquaponics don’t mix, the bugs usually need dirt to come in on.

I guess I’ll find out Wednesday/Thursday, unless anyone else has any thoughts? Where would I find any evidence of them directly? Don’t they usually love and lay eggs on the underside of the leaf, like mites?

Might want to get a 35 dollar usb microscope so you will know. Right now you are flying blind and forced to make critical decisions without proper info to make them. Many bugs that can destroy our plants are far too small for the naked eye. Hemp Russet Mites for example are almost too small to see with a usb microscope even.

Microscope ordered, it’ll be here tomorrow. What am I looking for exactly??

Underside of the leaf- you will find them waking around - not visible to your eye. Should be able to see them with a scope no problem.

After year long battles with thrips I have to agree with most here. Looks like thrips damage.

There is hope - I used to think it was a death sentence for plants and rooms - but @JohnnyPotseed shared a recipe here called ‘one and done’ and I’m an unofficial ambassador. Stuff works very effectively.

They are long little things - can vary in colour.

Edit: I look along the main veins and can usually find them pretty quick on the effected leaves.

I would suggest hempy coco/perlite system to cut down on this.

Hmm, I’ve been looking on all the leaves, but I don’t see any bugs, anywhere, on any of them. The white spots on the leaves, while I agree do look like thrip damage, don’t have any necrosis around the edges of the white spots.

Confusing and frustrating, lil buggers
