Who owns an antique car nowadays?

@OhNo555 I’m a proud dad of a kid with a clue lol.here he is after pulling my starter for the 9TH TIME when we were peening my primaries to fit a starter.We had to pull the steering column to cradle the starter in the header and keep removing until we got her in there flush.i ended up fitting a mini starter from a dodge Dakota in there after pulling the connectors off…long day

@OhNo555 I’m lucky enough to have a friend with a full shop and my kid lives above it haha.ive seen some pretty cool stuff roll thru there

I used to own a little fiat convertible just like this one:

Had plenty of pep, and the steering was incredibly tight through the turns. Great shape mechanically and a lot of fun to drive, but it had some electrical issue that would kill the battery that drove me crazy for a bit. Sold it a couple years ago for several times it’s purchase price.

I guess my first gen tacoma is about to come into it’s “antique” years… 250k miles on the dash, just put in a new engine, so hoping for another quarter million.

Not mine, but the local Asian market has a guy in the family who’s into cars, I’m always wondering what it’ll be in the back lot when I go. Well, he’s gotten into some deep shit now, he’s collecting or rebuilding Z Cars

And I spotted this on the street yesterday, I think this base truck is an antique by now? Hahaha it’s definitely a crazy dinosaur of some kind now after that dually reframing and the work bed, what a weird beast, I bet it’s got a turbo diesel under there:

@mota this is some Bay Area madness right here, I’m assuming! We have a lot of bicoastal people who go between the Bay and Western Mass. I guess the Tileman needs to be able to carry a lot of weight!

I use to own an 86 GN. The brakes were always loosing booster pressure and after spending a 1000 trying to fix it i sold it. i wish i would have been able to afford to take care of it.

For 45 years ago I stayed a year i the US. Mostly in California. At that time, back in 1979, I bought two nice cars in excellent condition. One 1967 Chevy Impala and one 1958 Caddy Eldorado Brougham. After a year in California I drove both cars the long way from L.A. up to N.Y.C. and ship them both in containers via boat to Sweden. What I’m extremely sad of is that I have sold both cars. Well, it’s a matter of fact, I sold them in the mid/end of the 1980’s.

my 89 jeep cherokee limitted turned 36 in february. All original except the suspension and front bumper. Managed to get her thru ice fishing season and she didn’t let me down in the winter conditions we get here for 5 or 6 months of the year. She needs a new engine soon at 338,000 km right now (canada) but otherwise she’s still a solid rig despite her vintage hehe

I have a 1986 Volvo 240 DL, 4cl gas, wagon
Amazing lil car. Drove her home across the country around Christmas
Best car I’ve ever had in the snow. Would make a great rally car. Even better than the Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited and the Saab 900SE turbo.

Old lady who gave it to me said she bought it new in 1988.
She had it maintained perfectly while a bible-thick maintenance history.
She said the odometer broke around 250,000 miles over ten years ago. But claims it should be about 1,200,000 miles on it. She drove back n forth across the country with it 7 times in just 10 years.
She ended up getting Tesla stock when they IPO’ed, so now she’s rich and has a Tesla, so she just gave me the Volvo. But I have her a few hundred as a thanks.

My first car was a 1968 Charger R/T, 440/4 speed. Long, sad story on that one. Had a 73 Charger R/T, 340 4 speed pistol grip. 1st wife totaled that one. Had 1970 Challenger, 340 4 speed pistol grip. I put a bunch of money in the engine. It ate clutches left and right. After it ate the Zoom clutch, I took the pressure plate to a place that built heavy duty clutches and told them what I wanted. From then on, I replaced the disc about every 6 months. The clutch was so stiff my left leg was bigger than my right :rofl:. When I slapped it in 3rd and stood on it, all you saw was the ass end of a Dodge. I loved rolling up on new Corvettes. I would jump them out of the hole, let them catch up on the 1-2 shift, grab 3rd and it would squat down, squawk the tires and show 'em tail lights. Then I’d ease up, slip it in 4th and wait for them to come flying past. It’s like “Dude, I let off the gas 1/4 mile back!”

I had a 70’s challenger with an 340 also. I had 360 heads. Very fast. I would dust anything.
