Are you taking sufficiently developed branches? Few nodes at least. I also like to take them from the base of the plant or close to it.
My clones always die when I try to do it the “right way” all I do is take cutting, dip in rooting hormone, stick in cup of water. Change water every few days. They chill in 50-60 rh. Almost all live.
I used to use an aeroponic-style cloning bucket but I’ve had good results cloning direct to rockwool in a dome on a tray and then transplanting to 4-inch pots with soil.
You might not be able to keep clones, but you can take clones - they’ll just flower on the same schedule regardless. You could, however, clone everything and use the clones for breeding while keeping the original parents to flower normally for smoke tests… then observe your results with the originals, send out the most promising lots of seeds for testing, and proceed from the line(s) with the best confirmed results after testing. Not having ever done jack shit with autos, that’s my best theory, anyway.
thanks! The Mac1 mom was super fire and covered in trichomes! You’d definitely dig it! You should pop those lavender frostings next time you get the chance and see how you like them!!
@WeTokeChronic these sound awesome, particularly the lavender Jack and the lavender dosidos, what’s the story with that lavender frosting? Does that have somas lavender in it? Or just a naming coincidence? (Sorry if this is covered somewhere and I’m missing it)
Lavender Frosting is from a cut of Vanilla Frosting from HSC and a male Lavender Jack from Bodhi…
All of the LAVENDER I use is from LAVENDER JACK. Bodhi’s Big buddy cut/Wookie crossed into Jack Herer
Not a fan of Soma Lavender or his Somango. I bought packs in probably 2008-2010 and I definitely didn’t find a keeper in those packs. I’d run his Lavender again just to try one more pack but If I could get a cut of the Big Buddy I’d definitely rather go with that
Definitely heard mixed reviews on the quality of somas seeds, but really good reviews of the keeper lavendar plants, so it seems like a gamble, but who doesn’t love a lottery right?!
Exactly! I’d probably put my name down on a preservation run of Soma Lavender but I wouldn’t buy a pack again. And I’d be anxious running it again…just don’t like wasting my time on stuff that doesn’t have a lot of terps. I don’t mind 15% thc with 3-4% terpenes those are usually my favorite strians especially with the floral/Limonene/berry terps
I need to let work intensity settle or my plants hurt. I’m thinking my 4x solo cups are in trouble as I didn’t have the spare mental load to focus properly… so i’m planing on popping more beans of multiple types come “time-off” in dec.
I get it 100%. If I didn’t get hurt at my job in May I probably wouldn’t have made so many this season! Sometimes it’s just too much to work 10-12 hour shifts and come home and feed your plants and dial it in and IPM…
I REALLY need to start running drip lines lol and build a seed sorter
That’s to bad about the luck with the lavender beans I’ve had nothing but great experiences with them myself. I did a run with them on here and there quite a few tucked away in a handful of members seed stash. I got mainly two pheno types, short and stalky with kinda mid grade quality nugs and a more stretched out version with realy nice sativa type spear colas. They all had a very uniform lavender hash smell and taste to them and the beans I made are even more uniform for the stretchy sativa pheno. If you search lavender collective grow show on here you will find the thread and plenty of pics
Yea I’d give it another shot if it was from someone on here who has them (I’d trade a pack of mine)
I had ordered those soma Lavender beans from Attitude Seeds
I wish I knew what type of Lavender I was getting from Santa Cruz in 2005-2010. It was the best Lavender I’ve ever seen. Buds were huge but not too dense and a lot of light shades of purple
Lavender candy floral fruity nose
Been growing for a couple decades but mostly clones. Reading about all the seed making going on around here has me inspired.
Got my first chucking project in progress. Little bit of preservation going on also.
