I’ve found something like 117 Shrines… and probably 225 Korok seeds in BOTW. I’ve played it so much the past few weeks… I’ve nearly accomplished everything you can do in that game. Hundreds of hours spent I bet.
I just hope Tears of the Kingdom is nearly as immersive and well thought out as BOTW, which in my opinion is a true masterpiece of a game.
I loved the game but only collected ~277 in my adventures. I’m not about to sit down with a map and grind it out until it becomes unenjoyable for the sake of a golden poop.
Well I was born with Atari 2600 and from there I watched the entire gaming industry unfold. I even had subscriptions to Game Pro and Electronic Gaming Monthly. My post about all this would be too long but I’ll summarize my history. I’ve had EVERY system except NEO GEO. I’ve had Super Turbo Grafx Japanese and Super Famicom unwilling to wait for SNES. I bought the Zelda A Link To The Past game and literally had to call a person who translated the entire game Japanese’ text when stuck in puzzle situations. I’ve played a lot except FPS but where I dominate is RPG’s from THE Dragon Warrior NES to 1000’s titles and many series.
Finally I was a very vocal poster about snowboarding titles and Amped 1 and 2 was the BEST simulator, some of those devs announced a new title and after Amped 3 disaster fans demanded that never happen again. I spearheaded the effort for the new game to be like Amped in controls and fluidity. Devs noticed this early form of crowdsourcing and brought me in to the sequel/expansion of Stoked. I signed an NDA, scoured forums for fans and their suggestions , complied all the feedback/suggestions and was going to be a fan blog for updates and improvements. My gamer avatar was featured on the page and I was an ombudsman for the game Stoked : Big Air. I was awarded a challenge spot named after me on Laxx (Rebel4liberty) Unfortunately the publisher Destineer ruined the launch, the developer named Bongfish had a falling out and the blog only got like 2-3 entries. I tried for another year or two (09-11) to rally the continued development of Stoked to another title but reality is Bongfish was just small developers and lacked the funding. Ubisoft was on the heels of Shaun White Snowboarding, but most who respect the sport disdain arcade style play.
For awhile I did the new SSX for Xbox360, reigned as a top player online. After that it would be years more to see Mark McMorris Infinite Air title which is sorta like Amped in flow. My hands aren’t what they used to be so rapid button and directional combinations get to be painful quickly. After Xbox360 I stopped buying new release systems as the lack of titles followed releases, so for years more after getting PS4 and Switch I await to see the pipeline flow. Finally just got the PS5 since it’s exclusive to FFXVI. Now playing Ryza 3
Just found the 120th about an hour ago. I finally feel like I’m almost finished. I’ll beat Ganon tomorrow and shelve it… I beat him once just to see how easy it was… and then re-loaded a previous save file. Feels good to be at the finish line.
Finally started Horizon Forbidden West last night. I didn’t expect to like the first one as much as I did but I ended up platinuming it (reserved for games I enjoy enough to bother) so I had to play the second. Just saw Dead Island 2 came out the other day so that might be next.
