Who's got chickens?

Hens are laying 5 a day like clockwork. Neighbours and friends are enjoying the fresh eggs…still always have a healthy stock in the fridge though

Welp today is the day we cull 4 of the boys. I made this ghetto cone because i couldnt find a kill cone in any of the stores around me. They all clame to see them but you can only buy them online around here. My dad is coming to help today. He is a city boy all the way but has found my adventures into farming to be really interesting. Its been really funny and rewarding seeing his reactions to what weve been doing around here hahaha

What’s up?

I have a problem I think, as I am new with chikens I tought that might make sense to as you more experienced if you have any idea of what’s going on.

My smaller chicken that is still growing about 2 weeks ago started sneezing like every 5-10 min and make a small noine when breathing, I don’t see any mucous on nastraws or anything, she looks fibe and happy but with these strange symptoms.

Any idea?

Hmmm… curious…

Chickens usually wont let you know theyre sick til its too late… is it becoming unusually dry and dusty where theyre roaming/sleeping?

What does the boise sound like when breathing?

Anything stuck in her nostril?

My chikens come and lay down near me every day so I can see any difference.
The chiken don’t look sick, she is active and has apetite.
They spend the days outdoors and they have their place where they sleep and lay eggs, defenitive a outside place with plenty of water and some moisture since there has been some rains.
I tought it could be from temperature drop but the noise happens on every expiration of the animal.
The sound is a light gasp, being the sound of some friction, like if you rubb your hand on plastic, that’s the sound.

This is the little chiken, the big one is ok and they are always toguether. So I haven’t checked the nostril because it is so small!

I would say it could be as much as a small cold or even allergies… chickens are odd lol

Also i like to season mine from the inside out though id never eat them lol and different things can help a chicken with different problems like once every couple weeks they get red pepper flakes for a worming and antibacterial property… but heres a list of some herbal add ins that can help with respitory problems

We just got rid of 4 and now we got 6. What the fuck! I am excited for these girls though. Leg horns are supposed to lay alot and eat a little so we will see what happens. These girls came from a shit home and were even almost suffocated in a plastic tote on the way to my house. They will be in isolation for a minimum of 2 weeks before they enter the flock. I wonder which rooster will clame them.

That they do… mine 3 lay daily for about 3 or 4 weeks before taking maybe one or two days off and getting back to it, even through the winter… a year and a half old and theyre still my best producers…

However lol they may be lovey dovey but they will find and exploit every exit strategy your fenced area has lol clipped wings be damned, theyll find a way out and show everyone else lol

Good to know! Ill keep an eye on them. These girls are really flighty. They came from a shitty home though so I can’t blame them. Ive got 2 damn bald eagles that have been hanging around lately im kinda hoping they get a leg horn and fuck off for a while haha

An old college friend is the USA CEO of Ropa…so we got turned onto this additive a few years ago.

Our clucks are molting for the first time. Feathers everywhere.

We’re on well water and the above (Ropa) product really seems to help with that sour smell that the water dispenser will get after a few days. Dunno of that is an issue with others but thought I’d mention it.
