Man its great to see this thread still doing so well! Ive been MIA for almost a year and it was so cool coming back to see posts still coming in weekly! As for my chicken journey over the last year, things have gotten abit out of hand… I now have 3 coops, 3 runs, a chicken tractor, and a Brooder i built in the garage. as of now we have 3 roosters, 45 laying hens (6x varieties) and our second round of 24 cornish cross meat birds. I was not expecting to check over grow tonight so I will post a bunch of pictures tomorrow. It was really crazy to see where I was the last time I updated you all on here. I’m fully on my way to becoming a chicken farmer. As for my weed grow… its still going. ive lost alot of steam but, i am on the up swing. I recently acquired some new friends who also grow. I had never met anyone in real life that grew. once we made that connection it gave me a reason to start giving a shit about my grow again. One of those friends also has chickens and helped with the butchering of the first round of meat birds. Thank you all for keeping this thread going! It was really awesome seeing all the updates, questions, answers, and new people on here! Ill post some pictures in the morning.
Peace OHGrow21666
We don’t have any chickens, but we’ve toyed with the idea. Instead we have the next best thing. One of our neighbors who lives about half mile away often goes away for a few days at a time and my wife takes care of her chickens when she’s away. The added perks of which are a constant supply of fresh eggs. We’ve not had to buy eggs in almost 3 years.
All the perks of having chickens without having chickens. Win/win.
Instead we have pet fish. Here is one that I play a game of fetch with. I toss out the jig and he begrudgingly brings it back to me.
We’re still working on getting him to drop it at my feet.
Hello to my fellow cluck lovers. I have a question I hope someone can answer. All of my searches come up with folks trying to hock products they sell…but never really give me a solid conclusion what/if something is going on with one/more of my birds or if this is normal.
What are the small dots on some of our eggs? Anybody know?
#1 My meat birds. There are 24 of them. On week 3.5, they will be going outside in a few days, and they will be processed the last week of October. This will be my second run of the year/ ever. Raising the first batch was one of the most rewarding things i have ever done. It beat out growing weed for sure. Im going to build another chicken tractor next year and i want to do 4 runs at 25 a pop.
#2 just some of my birds. When i sfarted this thread i had gotten 6 chicks and now my laying flock is just under 50.
#3 my newest mama! She came oht of no where 2 days ago with 4 chicks! She sat on them outside the run and brought them back at day 1 or 2 they are so tiny! Im proud of her beating iut predators, thunder storms, and temps in the 40s .
Tag that girl and use her every year. Good mamas are valuble! Well done
