That Pheno #7 especially looks

Is there a pheno you prefer out of the keepers you kept or are they both pretty similar?

Pheno #7.
Is the fastest 7 - 8 weeks of flower, great bud to leaf ratio, smells almost like fruity/berry dough with a musky skunk.

Pheno #4 is also special

My dad came from a farming family and he was one of 10 or 12… I forget now.

I forgot to tell you I lived over in Va. Beach for about 6 months while I was still out in Montana. I had a best friend who was a pretty big dealer back home for the day who lived there.

When I went back it was to Outer Banks/Cape Hatteras. A guy I worked with in Hatteras moved to Staunton, VA. His wife’s family was from there and I visited a few times. I’ve been over a whole lot of that Appalachian country up to mid Virginia.

Now I know how you came from a family of growers going back that far.You must have lived closer to the mountains of VA. When I lived in east Tennessee I was made aware of some old timers who started out in moonshine but they grew pot as well. Way out in the hills… Cocke county, TN.

Pot does as good there as anyplace I’ve ever been. Lots of old family land all over that area. They are cut from the original pioneers to that area. You had to grow your food, and make anything you needed to farm. It’s a really wonderful history in the mountains and I love all of the parks or exhibits in that region that show how they did it, and it’s impressive how well they adapted to that environment. They still rely on their own skills, one way or the other, to make it year to year. Pot, ginseng, and moonshine have always been a source of money for the mountain people.

How often do you make seeds ?

I don’t really make them often.

I’m currently doing A5Haze (s1) x 89’ Northern Lights #5.

I usually make seeds once every 18-24mos, sold some to the dispensary last year for resale, and just sold over 2000 to an OK grower a few months ago, so I’m depleted at the moment. But should be doing up some by the years end. I’ve tried the new STS method and don’t really care for it as that stuff is poison, so switched back to old-school rodelization. The seeds I produce are 99.99%female without adding heavy metals into my compost/living soil. (tossed the plants treated with STS on a fire after getting the pollen) rodelization is just as good and lots safer. Plus you can still smoke the plant when you’re done lol

I forgot to add the standard disclaimer lol ‘feminized seeds’ are only as good as the grower’s knowledge… it’s dependent on the temps, lighting, humidity, water pH, nutes, etc to say how many female plants ratio you get out of any batch of feminized seeds. You can get fem seeds from the most distinguished sellers in the world and if not done right, damn near every one will be male! Hard to f’up but there are people who manage to do just that, and then blame the seller!

Yep, after talking to you a little I figured. That’s some damn remote stuff there. My sister did our genealogy and hit a dead end in some NC counties straight south of there. So, my way back kin are from close to there.

Hey, I was checking out Wikipedia for that place and found this: Baseball player Herb Hash was born in Woolwine. :joy: …Herb Hash? lmao! Any of your kin? ha,… Herb Hash… uncle? lol

Sorry for getting off topic myself @TheShowMeHomie. I’ll try and rein it in now.

I’m still interested if any of you have grown the Ortega; nl1 x nl5. peace

Those are beautiful, the #7 looks particularly deadly. Do you know the history of them? Is it legit 89? It sure has a distinctive look.

My understanding is that it comes from Nevil’s Northern Lights #5 backcrossing project (Via Mel), the one that was never commercially released.

The dutch made such a ridiculous amount of money sending seeds over here from the 80s-2000s can you imagine a huge outdoor grow for seed production for seeds at 60 bucks a pack 1990 money that’s got to be like 250 current money if not 300 …the dutch are very interesting to me in that fact I mean these people once were an economic powerhouse with tulip bulbs who else can say that lol much respect to the wooden shoe crew
