Them Siberian Ruderalis beans aren’t old, but known to be stubborn. They’re very small and hard. I had to go this route out of pure desperation to complete the repro, and it worked!
I used a very small set of needle-nosed vise grips. I got the seed in the tip of the jaw(not touching or tight) with the seam facing the way I wanted, then slowly turned the threaded part clockwise to tighten the jaw to the seed.
It was tricky af getting everything in place with only two hands, but it worked!
