Free Seeds & Free Clones Thread (Part 16)

@PhilCuisine just posted about how some pollen he simply folded up in some aluminum foil and tossed in with his seed storage container in the fridge was still viable some 15 years later.

Was kept as dry as a bone and as flowing as the day Doug sent it to me.I used the basis of the grade of how that pollen was and I judged all my pollen to this day on how fine it was.Made a mistake with storing pollen I just had it in vials they were flowing and dry I just never froze or refrigerated it.Tried using some on a grow that year about 4 weeks from when I collected and it was all duds on two different plants. How long does it last with out refiigeration if itā€™s clean of mold and dry and flowing?

I believe it will only remain viable in the open for a few days, possibly a week +/-

In the fridge should be about 3/4 weeks
And in the freezer last a long time.

The viability goes down tho with thawing and freezing, so if you collect a bunch of pollen, or even a small amount, it would be better to pack small amounts into individual packets or containers.

That way if you go to use some you can leave the majority of it in the freezer and just take out and thaw what you need.

ā€¦with extensive details and numerous rules for dudes to abide by :joy:
The USPS clarified their stance regarding the shipment of hemp and hemp-based products in response to the 2018 Farm Bill and, similar to the heads of Hydra, subsequently spawned all sorts of other rules and regulations to fill the void. It basically boils down to:

If you have a license to grow industrial hemp, then you can declare in the shipping paperwork (and also clearly mark the outside of the package with the details) that the package contains hemp products. Additionally, if you ship any live plant you must label the box as containing a live plant and declare that you are shipping a perishable living item. So hemp seeds and clones are alright to ship using the usps if and only if they are properly marked and declared from an official state-licensed vendor who keeps legal records of what was sent
