On my property in WA, we had an antique apple tree called a Pumpkin Apple. The tree itself was laying on the ground with only part of its root wad still in the dirt when we bought the place in 1972. That tree continued to produce apples for at least 10 years. One average size apple from that tree would make about a pie and a half, and they were really good pie apples!
