different strokes for different folks
if thatās a reason not to joke about something, the world would be pretty unfunny
Identity politics has the general public hypnotized for sure. Everything triggers " feelings hurt"
itās disgusting and doesnāt lead to anything useful
So I read that as suggesting being empathetic is fucked up and to make a joke of someone elseās SERIOUS misfortune, like the stateās murder of your child, is fine.
And if it were your child murdered by the police, do you think it might ātrigger hurtā feelings in you?
Is anyone here George Floydās mother, father or some other relative? Has anyone here even had a relative murdered by the police? If not, this sounds like a political battle in disguise. Being empathetic is great, but being empathetic to everyone, even people who arenāt there, is flat-out impossible. You canāt please all the people all the time.
All day yesterday I was ātriggeredā by people celebrating Motherās Day. I didnāt yell at anyone to try and stop it. Just because you might be hurting, doesnāt make it other peopleās responsibility to go to extraordinary lengths to avoid hurting you.
Joking about a dying mans last words is what is lame here.
Itās definitely a lame joke. He had every right to make it, though.
Yeah and everyone else has the right not to laugh.
you read that wrong then. imo you can make fun of everything and everyone. If youāre offended by it, itās your problem not mine.
Iām a very empathic person and the joke has nothing to do with that. Itās just a meme, a funny one to me. it is funny because: this guy said those infamous words; another guy thought it would be a good idea to name a strain after him; a third guy had the idea to put these two things together which fits pretty good because sometimes you cough and have trouble breathing after a big hit of some good weed.
It wouldnāt be funny if all the shit didnāt happen. itās the situation that makes it funny.
Iām in this thread to see funny shit not thinking about child murderingā¦
For me, that is no reason to not be empathetic.
George Floydās relatives are real people. They are there, they actually exist, and my empathy extends to them. And let me just point out that George Floyd existed until he was murdered by police.
Me too. Another Hallmark holiday that I have no use for.
As I read this, you seem to be equating a meaningless holiday to the murder of a person. For me, these two things are not the same or even vaguely analogous.
Thatās your opinion, and while I donāt understand it, I definitely agree that your opinion is your right to have.
I could not agree more. He totally had the right to make it.
From here on we may only make jokes at @mndlss ā expense.
@mndlss so fat thatā¦insert punchline.
Thereās a line Iām quite fond of thatās ālife is a joke and a joke is deadly serious.ā
Gotta say Iām feelinā a little left out hereā¦
I think I made a joke about you a couple of days ago so youāre off the hook for now
But did it have an accompanying illustration???
Iām terrible with technology and memes and the only reason I have this one is because Mrs Foreigner sent it to me, as a joke, at my expense.
I might be worse. Whereās the damn test for just how terrible one is with technology when we need it?!
I can read simple instructions and train myself to do the same thing repeatedly, even somewhat complex things. I couldnāt diagnose myself out of a wet high technology paper bag if my life depended on it.
I spent a couple decades trading music and was a major uploader at a very private, very stinky site. No rips from other people allowed and you had to set up your ripper to very specific settings. Lots of traders claimed they could not figure out how to rip to the siteās standards, even though there were simple, step-by-step directions available on-site. Sure, it was a somewhat complex multi-step process to set up correctly, but you only have to do it once. But actually having to figure out how to actually do something by myself? Buahahahahahahahahah!!!
