When Video Game Culture meets UBER MUSIC NERD culture:
(*hey, what would happen if I did a composition of the Dhalsim theme from Street Fighter 2 on my **11-string bass? )
Agree but not, IMO, most Stoner/Doom and Drone bands are shitty and pretty limited but there are a few out there tha kick ass and sounds amazing. Sleep, Electric Wizard, Yob, Earth firsts albums, Boris and some work from the Melvins are the ones that come to my mind
Okay, since we’re on Stoner metal:
I have seen Sleep, Om, Sunn0))), and so many other bands that know how to move air in a venue… but NEVER have I experienced an actual sound vacuum like the time I was pressed against the stacks at ELECTRIC WIZARD. (I own 2x Boss Hyperfuzz pedals fyi i love their tone so hard.)
(edit: okay, this show for Sunn0))) was something else,
but I catagorize this as an arts installation with performance vs a traditional show… i needed to activly keep my air passage open or you FELT the air in your chest warble with the pressure. Yes. I was against the front stacks as per usual for these shows)
You grew your pot.
You trimmed and cured your pot.
So go get some pot…
Smoke that pot…
Now listen to The Pot
Well, this is a combo that works unbelievably well! (1922’s Nosferatu re-scored with Type-o-Negative)
Dude i never see any of them live, i wish, Those bands sound live should be next level and compressed bass air right in the guts. Can’t wait to see them, im not really into Sunn.o, but I’m thinking the same about the shows, looks more like an atmosphere build up.
I saw him in a small club in Austin called Mother Earth. He opened with “I been workin” 1972.
