Herbie Hancock’s Cantaloupe Island.

This 1964 jazz classic gained new life and popularity in the 90’s when Us3 re-created it as Cantaloop (Flip Fantasia)

This is Us3’s version of Cantaloupe Island. My brother and I saw them in concert in Chicago, and they were so much better than I ever could have hoped or expected. Something they did during their live show that I’ve always been so impressed by was to get up and move to different instruments, and nail them with flawless skill just as they had their previous instrument. The first BIG group I saw do this was…(See the next post).

Supertramp - The Long Way Home

Supertramp was the first group I saw live where virtually all the members got up and moved to different instruments without skipping a beat. In my opinion, this is the sign of truly skilled and gifted musicianship.
