I am an unrepentant Dead Head
I am not certain exactly why, but I greatly prefer the pre 1980 Grateful Dead.
Whenever I need my Dead fix, invariably I seek out the older stuff.

I would agree. 77/78 are the best years in my opinion. (minus Donna - ick)
The KB player changes definitely add a different flare to the group decade to decade. Althought I really love the 70’s in total, Brent was a great @ KB, so the 80’s are right up there.
After Brent, with Vince, it got a little to circus/carnival sounding for me. But again, just my simpleton opinion
