Haha that’s how you know the music is speaking to you! Don’t feel bad either, my wife either laughs at me or looks at me like I’m nuts far too often :v:t2:

Maan this brings back some good memories, I used to manage the Telegraph Hotel in Brixton, London in 2001/02 and this is were Basement Jaxx got known for their monthly shows before they blew up. One Saturday a month the run down pup would open it’s back room to about 1000 people and things would get raucous. Super humble guys even after they got signed. They did an interview with the BBC 3 and I was in the back ground throwing up shakas :call_me_hand:t4: and pouring the old local geezers lunchtime pints of Guinness haha, good times. After the new owners took over the Telegraph I left but I kept the keys to the side door and would let a good 15 to 20 people in for free on their reunion shows… the new owners hated me haha

Wow, what an awesome connection! Is that BBC interview online anywhere? If so, link it!

@Purple-N-Hairy I don’t think so mate but I’ll have a search, this was before everything got documented on line and YouTube. There’s actually hardly any info about the Telegraph Hotel on line as it doesn’t exist anymore unfortunately, like a lot of other small establishments in South London. But that place is forever etched in to my memory, Brixton is a predominantly Jamaican area of London so the Jerk chicken spots and record stores were iconic. Always something cool going on and nice to be a minority(white) in a West Indian/Caribbean culture. Had Yardies out front of the bar selling crack(I think) that I’d share my spliffs with and because I smoked green indoor Bud and not the brick they smoked they called it white man’s weed haha

Found this link with some iconic pics:

Cool little story about the Telegraph was that it apparently was used to send telegraphs to the Nazis in World War 2, out of the cellar. The Irish owners daughters refused to go downstairs stairs due to swearing they’d seen ghosts down there so I had to always be the one to change the kegs…

We wore this album out back in 1972. Over and over and over.

“People keep asking me, where’s your brother?”

One of my very favorite Johnny cuts.
