The Hall of Flowers after party panel discussion at Whiskey Tip in Santa Rosa. A candid conversation between operators about the current battle for retail shelf space in California.

Large brands have raised war chests. Local control of retail licenses has limited the number of retail storefronts in California. Too many brands competing for too little shelf space. Big brands are going for market share at the expense of short term profitability. That is not a sustainable strategy unless you have money to burn.

How do small brands compete and get their products on shelves when big brands are willing to pay slotting fees and have shop in shops staffed by their own employees?

So we organized a panel to represent licensed operators across the ecosystem - a retail operator, distributors, and brands to talk about the current state of retail in California.

Erich Pearson, SPARC Sparc Sonoma County
Shannon Hattan, Fiddler’s Greens & High Tide Distribution
Mike Voss, VCC Brands (The Venice Cookie Company)
Omer Saar, Feel Good Sales Group
Peter Cervieri, Future Cannabis Project (Moderator)
